CFL- Mogul Base question

so I'm look at buying a couple of CFL's for a closet space, does anyone know if you can plug them into a standard 120V light socket or do I need adapter's....

get a surge protector and then get edison to socket adapters

this way you dont worry about over loading other lighting sockets
