Cheap quantum sensor

If anyone is looking to get a cheap par meter I think I’ve found it

$240 Canadian

It’s 40 ppfd off my pulse pro sensor

I’ll test it against the apogee mq500 this weekend


The Advanced Quantum PAR Meter provides an accurate and cost-effective measurement for all light sources used to grow plants. The PHOTOBIO by Phantom Quantum PAR meter is designed to measure PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) flux in wavelengths ranging from 400 to 700nm. There is a proportional relationship between the number of photons absorbed in 400 to 700nm band and the rate of photosynthesis in plants, which is important for horticultural studies and monitoring plant physiology.

The Advanced light meter comes complete with a remote sensor, two connection cables, the main unit, and easy to replace AAA batteries. The PAR meter can store up to 99 measurements for easy reference.

Nah he never had time. But multiple tests have been done with the pulse pro vs the mq500 and that’s spot on. So I’m happy with where it is in terms of ppfd numbers. I also tested my pulse pro personally with the mq500 and it was within 30ppfd

I've been waiting for a review/comparison video or write-up to appear for that Photobio (hydrofarm) for a while now. I heard pop22 got one a little while ago too. I'd like to know how it compares to an apogee directly too.

I have one of these and it reading slightly low makes sense. My plants show stress before I would expect them to.

Only thing I did was up the dimmer and they showed stress. I backed it off and they stopped and went back to looking normal. I went from 150 to 300 and they stressed. Back down to around 230 and they are fine again. Looking at my dli chart I should be able to push 300. My res, runoff, temps and humidity are good.

150w, to 300w is a huge jump in ppfd my dude. That’s why your plants were stressed.
