Check out MY GROW BOX!!

Hey everyone, just wanted to share with you my grow box. At first I was planning on building one myself, but when I saw this I couldn't resist. Got it at Lowes for $45 Dimensions are 26.8" x 14.8" x 36.5" Here are a few pics! (Sorry about the quality, from my phone..)

All locked up in my closet!!

With my 2 29 watt CFL's giving a total of 4400 lumens. I plan to add 2-4 more CFL's as they grow more.


What do ya guys think?? All comments/suggestions welcome!!

Something like that. Starting out with 6 all the way through veg, then to flower to hopefully have some females left... Is that a problem?

you might get away with 1 in 1 gal pots, flower early, and repot your fems, but its bad to shock them during flowering, and youll need more than 1 gallon easy. the box allows light through, make sure when you do flower its left away from direct light, i can see your light inside, from the outside..

ok cover the inside of the walls with a reflective cover here are your top choices

1) Mylar- very reflective with light
2) white paint- same as mylar
3) aluminum foil(shiny side)- this will work also

you should have considered doing this either way b/c once you line the walls with a reflective cover then your light will be used to the max and will cover those light spots, i have the same kind of cabinet too only mines bigger that i got from home depot if u want i can show u pics of mine.

I thought it was better to have the dull side out if using tin foil? (Although I've read that it's not that great for reflectivity) I remember reading this a few times... Also, please show your pics, I'm interested in your set-up!

DO NOT USE THE SHINY SIDE OF TIN FOIL. the wrinkles it has creates hot spots. tin foil is very poor for reflecting light. it only reflects like 73% of the light. titanium matte flat white paint is the cheapest, most effective way to create a reflective surface. it reflects like 85% of light according to Jorge

Here it is, its has bigger deminsions then yours about 10 inches more


No hot spots in mine, its been layed flat on the walls, and there will be proper ventilation of course, ive never had or have seen anyone with hot spots problem with tin foil if you have proper ventilation. Right now im still using my standered box.

im not going to use anything else simply b/c this is a steath grow, paint smells too much, as for mylar i cant get access to it b/c ive have yet to see a store that sells it.

no problems growing for me as im growing LR2, and MasterLow(100% Auto Flowering), with my pots in size(1 gallon quare) i can utalize my space to fit around 6 of each so a total of 12. works for me as i dont need big yeilds b/c its only for recreational use and not intended to sell. Its just for a personell stash, ill still have a decent amount and seeing that it finished fast, i could keep doing multiple grows throughtout the year.

also absoulty no light leak the plastic is thick and walls are covered.

craft stores sometimes have mylar.........consider some good ole duct tape for sealing light in....perhaps a folded over flap taped at the door seam would help(tried and works).....

I went to HD right after i got mine at Lowes to see what they had and I saw that very same one and almost bought it. It was $10 more , and they did not take my debit card there so i just went with what I already had. I know it was about 4" wider, 4" deeper and around the same height. I was thinking about tin foil, but as of now I have no ventilation, but plan on hooking up some comp fans. one up top to blow air out, and one down low to blow air in. Not sure how I am going to light proof it with the fans....

What kind of lights are you using? And how are you mounting them? I drilled a hole up top towards the right side of the box and used the clamp from my light reflector. I took it apart and pushed the end of the clamp up through the hole. And then i just clamp the core of the light and can adjust very easily. Trying to figure out a better way because they tend to twist every now and then.

Thought about white paint. Can I use spray paint? I don't want to get my babies high lol.

I'll give a few places a call for some mylar. Since that would be the best thing to use.

try getting four cfl either 120 or 150, they don't get too hot, but good idea to keep the hot air moving out. i usually have a exh fan up top, one intake at bottom, and one just blowing around. there are some really small desk fans (kind of look like those big commercial types) i like them cause they don't make noise, and they move a lot of air.....watch the holes you vent as they will vent a good deal of light too.

oh shit.....i mount the lights with screw in hooks. one holding the light up, another at the back of the box to hold the wire and add some antifalldown security.

I kind of wish I would have gotten the one from HD because the back of the box is just a white piece of some type of cardboard, but it is some what heavy duty. I could possibly take mine back, but I have already drilled a hole in it and put it all together.

look at my pic the way im mounting my lights is by having them hang down, there one shelf all the way up top ima use that to set up electrical the shelf will be all plugs and shit so that there is no mess with wires everywhere (would hate to start a fire).i soldered holes in there so the lights hang down, ima use comp fans, which have no light leak b/c i use some curves pvc pipe tubing, which curves so that no light is seen but air does go in and out. seeing that im growing auto flowring plants im using some nice CFLS, i got a set of 6200k cfls, and some warm white cfls for budding, they give out a heat that i need b/c the box is in my closet which has no insulation so taht heat keeps my box at 75 degrees and with teh fans it goes to 70 so im good on that.

What do you mean you soldered them in there? Think I might try to make some type of mounting system where they are flexible with their placement so I can move them where I want.
