Check your indicator lights in your grow environment.

This is a commonly held myth, green light or really any light within PAR can interrupt photoperiod given enough intensity.
Agreed. I keep my bluelab guardian in my hydro tent. It's green, always on, it's bright as fuck at lights out. Never had a problem. I also use a vivosun green flashlight at lights out to change out res, it's even brighter. Never a problem.

Perhaps it was the super cropping then if you’re all so sure. Either way I’m covering the red lights from now on. Better safe than sorry, it’s literally no trouble to put a piece of electrical tape over em and certainly won’t hurt anything.
Only one thing you can be sure it was NOT the reason is supercropping. Maybe you thought monstercropping, thats possible. Every other thing is possible and it is generaly count under the belt of stress. Red light as a sudden change taking place longer than one week do the job easily. Keep it as dark as possible for proper flowering.

I've got a 5' tent. Had a 4'. Grown a couple of crops. Filled with little red lights. How come mine don't hermie? Luck?
Genetics, some plants are more prone to herm than others. It’s a fairly common practice in breeding to stress test with photoperiod interruptions to cull out intersex dominant plants from their breeding stock.

It really is all interesting, Studies are being done to find out the minimum amount of light needed to interrupt cannabis, playing with intensity and time on stuff like that, different colors, ect. We have known for years though green overall seems to have a weaker effect than Blue or Red.

Again, agreed. I feel like green light needs more intensity behind it than red or blue. It would be interesting to know just how much intensity combined with spectrum it takes for photosynthesis to occur. I'm guessing somewhere around moonlight? Lol

Dr.bugbee said cannabis’s light sensitivity threshold was juuuuust above the brightest moonlight possible. So your not far off!

The brightest moonlight possible is magnitudes of order stronger than a small led light in your tent I would also assume, unless you're running some truly cracked fans and dehu's I would put heavy doubt on small indicator leds causing herm traits, rather your genetics are just prone to being intersex.

However if you have a finicky strain there's no harm in being cautious either, a few pieces of tape arent exactly a huge effort to stick over some diodes.

Also fwiw I've been one of the green household bulb guys for years and haven't had an issue, even normal white/soft white 60w bulbs don't really seem to trigger nanners for me, but ymmv with genetics obviously.

Not sold on indicator power lights but im leaning to possible weak genetics. There are plenty of strains / breeder offerings that are often First gen seeds so sometimes you get variables.

i have power strips with reddish orange lamps and never had an issue. Thats why im thinking that plant is probably a weak one.

Then again … Stressors can come from many things also like - environment/ temps / overwater / overfeed etc.

I would think you would pull it anyways.

I've got a strain that I insist on continuing to run (because I love it) that herms if you look at it wrong. if I was a commercial grower I'd have binned it a long time ago.

Anyway, it is literally the only strain I've ever had that I'm fairly certain hermed from light pollution. in this case it was a streetlight outside a window I had not properly blacked out. Even with this incredibly touchy strain I've never had red indicator lights cause the issue. Not saying it couldn't happen as I am no plant biologist, I just think it typically takes more intensity than what a single low power led could possible emit.

Taping over them certainly isn't doing any harm though, so if you want to be ultra safe I say go for it. I know plenty of folks that tape over them in their space and I've never seen a reason to convince them otherwise.
