I've got a strain that I insist on continuing to run (because I love it) that herms if you look at it wrong. if I was a commercial grower I'd have binned it a long time ago.
Anyway, it is literally the only strain I've ever had that I'm fairly certain hermed from light pollution. in this case it was a streetlight outside a window I had not properly blacked out. Even with this incredibly touchy strain I've never had red indicator lights cause the issue. Not saying it couldn't happen as I am no plant biologist, I just think it typically takes more intensity than what a single low power led could possible emit.
Taping over them certainly isn't doing any harm though, so if you want to be ultra safe I say go for it. I know plenty of folks that tape over them in their space and I've never seen a reason to convince them otherwise.
