This is what my dad wanted to do for his fliter(said he had done b4 you could go and buy), he said they work very good for the price, he told me we were crazy for paying the prices we do on some of this stuff so he told me how to make a carbon filter...
Materials
1 8inch diameter PVC pipe
2 2 8inch diameter cap
3 a bag of charcoal
4 small ass drill bit
5 good drill
6 long time
7 4inch PVC pipe
8 glue
So, drill a lot of little holes both PVC pipes put the cap on the 8inch peace, then put glue on the end of the 6 inch PVC pipe that will go on to the 8 inch then fill the gap in between then two pipes with charcoal. Then drill a 4 inch hole in the center of the top peace, your 4 inch pipe will need to be a little longer then the 8 inch, place cap over so that the top is covered but don't glue it on because you will need to replace the charcoal every so often.
when your done it should look just like a real filter but made outta of PVC, it works the same way but seen you can use brackets you can blow air out or suck it in.
