The story behind these seeds are straight from the breeder rockster who tells how he came up with these seeds.
Rockster lives in U.K. and has an original Cheese #1 Exodus Cut of the original Skunk genetics Arjan brought over.
After many years of cloning from Mothers with nothing odd occuring all of a sudden he ends up with TWO males from a batch of clones.
He doesn't know why or how - just that he is sure they were cut from his Exodus Mother.
Apparently this is not unheard of; but is very rare none the less.
My hypothesis is that certain conditions have to align to gether to make it happen, and rockster just hit that sweet spot accidentally.
At any rate, rockster had the good sense to grow them out and choose one of the males and breed them with the females.
A side note: he said the other females from that batch of clones were normal and uniform.
These seeds are the result of his efforts, and are especially valued as this is a Breeders Pak of the new line.
And that is what I intend to do with them: breed.
Here is the unopened seedpak:
Seal cut and five of ten seeds selected:
Pots prepared for run;
I drilled five 7/16" diameter holes in bottom of each quart container,
filled them with medium, and then set seeds in pre-wetted depressions:
After covering plantings with loose medium and
adding a few ounces of water to try and saturate soil without disturbing seeds,
I then sprayed the upper surface of medium with aged pHed water to wet down
in order to trap moisture.
Normally I put on heated surface for a day or two after sowing seeds.
This setup is still pretty wet so I will wait until morning to place pots on heat source.
I am using fresh Pro-Mix BX for medium and will start and veg under 2X overdriven T-8's
Normally I veg 30 days before flipping for my tests.
Normally I repot two times:
a week to ten days for first transplant,
and just before placing in bloom room at 30 days.
I expect to go to 2 gal pots and then finish in 7 gal pots.
More later....
Okay it's two days and I set the pots on top of my 'heat source',
to do my thing like I do my thing:
After @5 hours I pulled them off and set them down below in the light.
The idea is to just warm the soil somewhat from the bottom upward.
You don't want to 'cook' it; you are trying to simulate the ground warming in the Spring to trigger the grow reflex.
Or something like that.
I go by feel here and that's the best I can explain it.
It has worked great for me up to now; so we will see.
The plan going forward here is some seedlings in a day or two sprouting up.
Okay I am at day 3 since sowing seeds and I have ignition on three of the five so far.
I set the warmed pots about a foot or so from the veg light yesterday afternoon:
Today I have something to show for the effort:
#One, #Three, and #Four have sprouted.
#Two has also sprouted.
Just went down to check before lights out:
#5 has sprouted.
5 for 5 man.
Hope this is a good sign.
more later....
