Well, here we go, my first grow journal ever.

Strains;

1) 5 x Cheese -Green House Seeds - feminised.

2) 5 x AK-48 - Nirvana Seeds.

3) 5 x Chronic's Revenge 2 - Dr. Chronic's Seeds - freebies.

4) 5 x Papaya - Nirvana Seeds.

5) 2 x Buzzberry - Chatterwok Seeds (Canada).

Started seeds last night using paper towel method.

This will be a stealth grow, in a cupboard under the stairs. However, due to the proximity of neighbours and the poor ventilation common with cupboard grows, the supply and control of fresh air, heat and odour will have to be fully addressed - or no doubt trouble will ensue!lol.

The dimensions of the cupboard are 6' x 3' x 6', however one corner is "chopped off" as the stairs run above - if you get me! Pics will explain what I mean. Inside of grow droom lined with mylar.

Lighting consists of 1 x 400w Coolshade light with MH bulb for veg and HPS bulb for flowering, linked to a 125mm in line fan and 125mm carbon filter with 4'' ducting. Light height adjustable.

Fresh air supplied by 8cm 240v pc fan mounted to bottom of grow room door, do not want to show outside of grow room, door etc, for security reasons - but you all know what these fans look like anyway!

Will be growing using Plagram soil as medium. It is manufactured in the Netherlands specifically for cannabis production, and has added bat guano (fruit bat, not insect/carniv eater as not as good). I shall be adding perlite to the soil to increase aeration etc, and be using 7.5L pots.

The grow nutrients I shall be using are;
1) Plant start.
2) Cannaveg.
3) Rhizotonic.
4) Canazym.
5) Fulvic.
6) Foliar feed.
7) Canna flores.
8) PK 13/14.
9) Vitalink Buddy or Dr. Hornby's Big Bud.
10) Flushing fluid.

Shall be using 3 types of bulb; MH, HPS dual spectrum, HPS full flowering bulb - no blue spectrum at all.

However, that has yet to come - as the seeds have only just been started, so fingers crossed a good proportion will sprout healthily.

18 hours since seeds started.
Already have 3 x cheese and 2 x AK-48 sprouted.

Must be eager to get in the soil and start growing!

Now 35 hours after started seeds.

As stated, am using the paper towel method of germination to encourage the seeds to start, considering that it is still quite chilly in the UK, i have placed the plate on top of the TV cooling vent to gently warm the plate.

So far I have germinated:
5 x Cheese,
4 x AK-48,
4 x Papaya,
1 x Buzzberry.

So far the only seeds that have shown no sign of starting are the Chronic Revenge 2 - but then they were freebies, perhaps that's why!lol.
If they do not show any sign of starting in the next few days, I shall start a couple more AK-48 and Papaya to take their place.

Have potted the first 14 seeds in peat free potting compost, so has a fairly neutral pH, just a tad acidic (5.5-6.5 pH), and watered in with plain water with 1ml/L root stimulator - rhizotonic. Have chosen 3'' x 3'' plant pots to start the seedlings.

However, before potting seedlings I made sure that the pots, which I had used last year to start my plants, had been scrubbed with a 5% bleach solution and rinsed - in order to kill any bugs or other pests that may have over-wintered in the pots.

Again, I shall put the tray with the potted seedlings on top of the TV, so the compost is kept a little warm to encourage root development.

Now on third day of growth, and seedlings looking strong.

16 seedlings are now fully open, and are showing their second set of leaves.
3 other seedlings have germinated, but not yet lost the seed casing.

Out of the original 22 seeds:
1 x AK-48
1 X Papaya
4 x Chronic's Revenge 2

did not germinate. Therefore, I made up the numbers by germinating an extra AK-48 and 2 x Papaya.

For first couple of days placed seedlings on TV in front of window to stimulate growth, however, made the seedlings a little stretched so will place under lights tonight.

Gave the seedlings a feed of root stimulator and cannazym to get them going, and they are now under lights for the first night (cannazym 2ml/l, root juice 1ml/l).

Planning to veg for 2 - 3 weeks under a 400w MH coolshade.

Vegging on an 18/6 light schedule.

Temps with light on 75F, and 70F with the lights off.

Humidity 60%.

Hi people,
sorry I have not updated the grow journal until now, but for some reason have been unable to log on to the web site. However, am sorted now, so I can get back to the job in hand!

As already stated in last journal entry, the plants had their first night under lights on 27.02.08., so have now had 10 days under lights.

After 5th day under lights, and after sufficient root development, transplanted the seedlings to 7.5 L pots.

Repotted in Plagron's Bat Special Mix, which contains bat guano (fruit bats - not insect eaters), white peat, Baltic peat, sphagnum moss, Irish white peat chunks, black peat, worm castings, organic manure and 15% perlite. Specially mixed in the NL for cannabis cultivation.

Since repotting have only fed plants root juice (3-4ml/L) and cannazym (2.5ml/L), which i will continue to supply the plants until they commence flowering period. Will need no other nutes at all until then, as there are enough nutes in soil already to supply the plants for at least the first 4 or 5 weeks of vegetative growth, and only plan to veg for 2-3 weeks as SOG.

Temps 75 - 80F with lights on, 65 - 70F with lights out.

Humidity 60%.

Light - 400MH.

Have one plant growing in growdan cube, and vegging in an oxy-pot unit. Transplanted to unit the same day others were repotted. Feeding on Ionic grow(5ml/L), cananazym(2.5ml/L), root juice(3-4ml/L), and fulvic(2ml/L). Will feed on Ionic bloom and Ionic boost during flowering period.

All plants looking OK, stems starting to thicken up, and leaves beginging to take on a darker appearance.

Any input welcome.

Hi all,
well another week has gone by, and the plants have now had 17 days under lights.

temps: 75-80F.
humidity: 60%.
nutes: NONE.
soil: plagron bat special mix.
additives: 4-5ml/L root juice, 2.5ml/L cannazym.
light: 18/6.
water: daily at this stage, during night stage.
foliar feed: yes - have had two feeds so far, once a week during veg period at night stage, will have no more foliar feeds.

Plants seem to be doing very well. Obviously due to the quality of the soil. Surface of leaves are uniform and smooth ( as opposed to the "wrinkling" associated with over feeeding ). All plants are compact, and have the close internode structure that results from using the MH bulb.

Plants now 7''-9'', two of them are smaller than the rest ( in small pots ), as they took longer to germinate and as such were put under lights 4-5 days after the rest. The rest are looking very strong and are starting to turn a darker shade of green as they mature. Already stink like fuck, but have carbon filter to sort out any unwanted odours.

After seeing the growth rate of the plants in this new soil I have decided, contrary to my intentions at the begining of the journal, not to use any added nutrients at all during the veg stage and the first 4 weeks of flowering. However, shall continue to use the additives cannazym and root juice during this period. I shall then assess the plants' progress after 4 weeks of flowering to see if I need to use bloom feed or boost, bud expander or PK 13/14.

The longer I grow the more certain I am that alot of the nutes we are encouraged to use by the trade mags etc. are completely unnecessary - long as you use a decent soil medium for your plants. They seem to do well enough in the mountains of the Hindu Kush without bloom booster and all the other shit we are hassled to use. A little bit of donkey shit is all they can hope for at best!

As long as the seeds you use have been produced using quality plants and contain decent genetics, as would naturally happen in the wild through the process of natural selection, and you are growing under optimum conditions, then the plants should require very little in the way of nutrients.

Do you think we are being ripped off - or is it just me?

Plants have two more nights under MH bulb, and will then be switched over to the flowering period and put on 12/12 light. I shall also change over the bulb to HPS.

laters peeps.

hi everyone/anyone!

just a quick update, as am in Amsterdam for the next week so will not be able to do an update til i get back.

tonight is the first night on flowering cycle. Have changed the bulb for a 400w HPS Growlux dual-spectrum bulb. For last 4 or so weeks I will change the bulb to a pure flowering spectrum bulb by powerplant.

temps: 70-75F.
humidity: 60-65%.
nutes: NONE.
soil: plagron bat special mix.
additives: cannazym 2.5ml/L, and root juice 5ml/L.
light: 12/12.
water: will now be watering every two days at about 250ml/day/plant.
foliar feeds: none from now on.

Have noticed that the plants are becoming a little darker by the day, no problems with nute burn, over watering etc...Infact looking very healthy so far- fingers crossed!lol.

Have also topped two plants from each strain and both of the Buzzberry, just to see how they react to topping for future knowledge.

The one Cheese (fem) plant in the oxy-pot has also been topped.

Changed nutes in oxy-pot for flowering period also.

Nutes: Ionic Bloom 7ml/L. Will also use Bloom Boost later on in the grow.
Additives: cannazym 2.5mlL and root juice 5mlL.

well, peace and love to everyone - will think of you all when I'm strolling round the grachts!lol.
:peace::mrgreen:

Hi all, isn't life just fucking peachy?

Well, the plants have had their first 7 nights on a 12/12 cycle.

Had topped a couple of plants of each strain, to see how they get on, a couple of days before I put the plants on 12/12 - for future reference.

Temps: 75F lights on, 70F lights off.
Humidity: 60-65%.
Nutes: NONE.
Soil: Plagron Bat Special Mix.
Additives: Cannazym 2.5ml/L and Root Juice 3-4ml/L.
Light: 12/12 dual spectrum bulb.
Water: watering every 2 days, 300-350ml/plant.
Foliar Feeds: NONE.

Had to ask a mate to look after my girls while I was in the Dam, and unfortunately he overwatered the plants a little. Nothing too bad, but the leaves are a little wrinkly as a result. Should be OK after a couple of days without more water.

As you can tell by pics the plants are doing very well, despite the slight over-watering problem. The last few pics are of the grow room re-arranged after pruning the plants down a little and re-distributing. Because the fan leaves were so big decided to take a few off to allow the light to get to the new growth underneath.

The one fem in the oxy-pot is still on;

Nutes: Ionic bloom 7ml/L, Ionic bloom boost 1ml/L, Root Juice 4ml/L, Cannazym 2.5ml/L, Fulvic 2ml/L.

Seems to be doing very well also, at least on a par with the soil grown plants so far - if not healthier.

Laters dudes. :hump:

Hi everyone,

another week over.

Plants have now finished the first three weeks flowering, or, in this instance, pre-flower.

Because I only vegged the plants for 2 weeks before I put on 12/12 photoperiod, the plants were not mature enough to show sex yet. As a result the first two weeks of flowering can be considered as a two week period of pre-flower. Therefore I did not commence the flowering period proper until a week ago, effecively putting the plants back to the end of their first week of flowering.

As a result, the plants are all showing their sex now, and the males have been removed.

Temps: 70-75F.
Humidity: 60-70%.
Nutes: NONE.
Soil: Plagron Bat Mix Special.
Additives: Cannazym 2.5ml/L and Root Juice 4ml/L.
Light: 400W HPS dual spectrum coolshade.
Water: 500ml/2 days.
Foliar Feeds: None.

The Cheese plant in the oxy-pot is by far the strongest and most advanced. Feeding oxy-pot on:

Ionic Bloom:7ml/L.
Ionic Boost:ml/L.
Cannazym:2ml/L.
Root Juice:4ml/L.
Superthrive:1 drop/L.
Fulvic: 2ml/L.

Change solution every week.

Hi all,

now coming to the end of the third week of flowering.

After sexing the remaining plants are:

5 x Cheese (GHS - fem)

1 x Buzzberry

2 x Papaya

2 x AK48.

Not quite as many female plants i would have liked, but as you know it is pretty much in the hands of the Gods.

Touch wood - so far have had no unexpected problems such as pests , or nute deficiencies - despite having used no nutes at all since the begining of the grow. Have decided to only add nutes for a brief period during the last 4 weeks of flowering in order to give the plants the added boost they require. But for the next week they will still only have water a with a small amount of cannazym and root juice, as per normal.

temps: 70-75F
humidity: 60%
soil: Plagron Bat Special Mix
nutes: NONE
additives: cannazym and root juice
light: 12/12 dual-spectrum 400W HPS
water: 1 L/3 days - watering every third day, 1 litre per plant.
foliar feeds: NONE

As you can see from pics the cheese plant in the oxy-pot is by far the strongest and largest plant, although it is about a week behind the others.

temps: 60-75F
humidity: 60%
soil: oxy-pot
light: 12/12 400W HPS
water:foliar feeds: NONE
nutes:
ionic bloom: 7ml/L
ionic boost: 7ml/L
cannazym: 2.5ml/L
root juice: 2ml/L
fulvic: 2ml/L
superthrive: 1 drop/L.

Solution changed weekly - O2 feed on 100%.

hi everyone,

first I must apologise for missing a few days, but have been in hospital so was unable to up-date post.

Have now reached the end of the 6th week of flowering, and decided to add some nutes for the first time to help them hit the rest of the flowering period and make the most out flowering.

Temps: 70-75F.
Humidity: 60-65%.
Soil: Plagram Bat Mix Special.
Nutes: Terra Flores 4ml/L, PK 13/14 1.5ml/L, Big Bud 5ml/L,
Additives: Cannazym 2ml/L and root Juice 1ml/L, Superthrive 1 drop/L.
Light: 12/12 400w HPS dual spectrum.
Water: 1.3 L/2 days.
Foliar feeds: NONE.

The oxy-pot:

Temps: 70-75F.
Humidity: 60-60%.
Soil: Oxy-pot.
Additives: Cannazym 2ml/L, Root Juice 1ml/L, Superthrive 1 drop/L.
Light: 12/12 400W HPS dual spectrum.
Foliar feeds: NONE.
Nutes:
Ionic bloom: 7ml/L.
Ionic boost: 7ml/L.
PK 13/14: 1.5ml/L.
Big Bud: 5ml/L.

Unfortunately, although I have not fed any nutes at all to the plants during either the vegging or flowering period, and believing that the soil may welcome the added nutes, just this one feed has resulted in a mildish case of nute burn to the soil based plants. Fortunately, the oxy-pot plant was unaffected.

As a result I have once again returned to a straight water feed - with the only additives being cannazym and root juice.

Hopefully, the plants will recover without too much damage being caused.

The worst affected plant was, infact, one of the Papaya's. Whereas the rest of the plants suffered from straight nute burn, causing some of the leaves to discolour (light green/yellow), and have brown/black dried areas - this Papaya seems to have the added complication of lock-out, as pretty much the whole plant has turned a light shade of yellow.

As I said previously, hopefully if I feed with only water and superthrive (to assist recovery and prevent further complications), they shall all recover - famous last words.

I have included a photo of a couple of the leaves for you to check out - if you have any advice it would be very welcome.

As you can tell by the other photos, there is some damage to the leaves, but it could be alot worse. Hind sight is always 20/20, but I had a feeling the soil was good enough to last the entire grow without any need for nutes at all - at least I now know it is for sure!

Laters.

Have decided to add another 400W HPS pure flowering bulb and the necessary added ventilation for the last 4 or so weeks of flowering.

As you can tell by the pics, the Cheese plant in the oxy-pot is five or six times the size of the soil based plants.

Love and Peace.:blsmoke:

Hi,

now in the 8th week of flower. Plants begining to draw nutrients back into the plant from the leaves at this point, so there is some yellowing and some necrotic patches.
This was further complicated by my somewhat dodgy decision to give them their first, and only at this pont, feed about two weeks ago. In order to boost flower production I added some flowering nutes, and some Big Bud - however, I only succeeded in causing a problem with the pH or nute burn, resulting in a lockout of N and K.

As a result the foliage is a little sub-standard - but hopefully the yield, and more importantly, the quality will be fine. Any comments or input would be appreciated.

I knew the plagron soil was heavy in nutes already, but I had no idea that they would last the entire grow without needing any nutritional top ups.

I now know better!lol.

final crop will be:

1) 4 x Cheese (fem) GHS -soil.
2) 1 x Cheese (fem) GHS -oxy-pot.
3) 1 x Buzzberry -soil.
4) 1 x AK-48 -soil.
5) 1 x Papaya -soil.

Temps: 75-82F.
Humidity: 60-65%.
Soil: Plagron Bat Mix.
Water: 1-1.5L/day/plant.
Nutes: NONE.
Additives: Vitalink Buddy 1ml/L.
Foliar feeds: NONE.
Light: 1 x 400W dual spectrum HPS and 1 x 400W flowering HPS.
Venting: Added another fan (4'' accoustic fan) to handle increase in temps
due to additional light.

oxy-pot:

Temps: 75-82F.
humidity: 60-65%.
Soil: Plagron Bat Mix.
Water: 1-1.5L/day/plant.
Nutes: NONE.
Additives: Big Bud.
Foliar feeds: NONE.
Light: 1 x 400W dual spectrum HPS and 1 x 400w flowering HPS.

Will not be adding any more nutes or additives to the soil based plants from now on - and shall start the flush for the last week soon. Shall be using a flushing fluid in order to enhance final flavour.

Laters, David.

Awesome grow dude! The only bad thing I have to say is that you didn't label your photo's as to which plant was which. I'd really like to see the buzzberry too becuase I just picked up 10 feminized beans and plan to use soil.

I currently have 1 Hindu Kush growing. +rep Btw!
