Chocolate Thai

Hello phenohuntergarcia, a question for yourself and others who have/are growing out chocolate thai seeds. Can I ask what sort of scent you all get off the plant while alive and then also when as finished harvested ready to use flower.
Iv found some plants that give a camphor almost haze like similar to the old ssh, and with rotting meat and a coffee type background in the scent. I was wondering is this typical of the chocolate thai strain that goes around ? Thanks

Mine is about 1-2 weeks from finishing. I'm growing the Drawoh's Choc Thai F4.

The smell is hard to describe. It smells great but I can't put my finger on what it's similar too. At 10 weeks in, I can tell you I don't get any hints of chocolate. It's not a dark, rich smell. Things could change, but I'm not absolutely convinced that this is "the" Thai weed that I remember from the 70's. I'm not dismissing it, either. I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

I chopped her on the 18th....10 weeks. The smell had taken on a darker, muskier smell...maybe a bit of coffee....and, yes, maybe a hint of chocolate, too. The plant is still drying at the moment. I think it might turn out pretty good, but I'm going to give it another week and then trim and into a heat sealed Grove bag for a couple months. I'm going to give it every possible opportunity to be great. No short cuts! :)

Well....nothing much to say really. Mild taste. Mild effects. Not what I remembered as being Thai weed from the 70's. It's just okay and I think I grew it as well as it could be grown. In all reality, I wasn't really expecting it to be like the old Thai weed....because if real Thai weed was available, anywhere, then it would become the only strain anyone would be smoking! Sorry for the late wind up. It just wasn't exciting like I had hoped it might be...There's always a chance, right?
But...yeah, not this.

I completely agree with your results, maybe not so much on the prognosis of real Thai to be found. I have been completely confounded by the decision to use whatever bullshit indica Hazeman chose to create this "Chocolate Thai". You are being way to kind saying "mild" effects, i can't believe the comments i read before buying on DC seed, saying it was "really nice".

This Double Chocolate Thai that is getting very near to finishing will be at least 16 weeks in flower when it finishes smells so wonderful, like something you would want to bake with, a dark, rich, no lemony scents at all in the flower. I wouldn't call the scent Chocolate exactly, but it could easily change from this to what i consider Chocolate to smell like in the cure, or maybe this is what people were equivalating that to. It doesn't have the vanilla and perfume thing going on anymore. The Double Chocolate has Drawohs unmolested Thai crossed with an old school Chocolate Thai. It is running longer than the Colombian Mango Biche which i pulled at 15 weeks due to it getting a fair amount of amber.

I found this purple Thai in a pack of Ace Thai, and it smells very similar to the Double Chocolate Thai from Snowhigh, and it smells vastly different than Hazemans ultra muted terps. I used some of the Double Chocolate pollen on it. On the Double Chocolate Thai, i made F2s, and the bag i used for pollen had a couple pinholes in it, so seed production is many times over what i originally intended, which in hindsight id say is a good mistake since Chocolate Thai is so hard to find. Ill probably have over a 1000 seeds. If you're in the States i could drop you some in the mail in a few months after everything is harvested and the seeds have dried.

That's very nice of you! I'd definitely be interested! Thank you! Maybe You will be the guy to bring back the real deal!

Yeah, I was completely in the dark on what Drawoh's mix was. I just assumed it would have to be something special to make it to F5....like he had found something worth stabilizing or something. But, I have no idea why it turned out so.....meh. I guess it's all relative to the people who were around when the real Thai was around to really know what the expectations are. Maybe this Drawoh guy is too young to even know what's what. I have no idea. Anyway, thanks again!

You are very welcome. I think it would be the most responsible thing for me to do since it is impossible to find anywhere. I almost didnt even get a female out of the 10 pack. The fact that i was seeing only males made me go ahead and start the Ace Thai so at least i could use the males, and that has worked out well so far.

I have no idea who is drawoh is, but from what i found out researching the Hazeman line, that the Drawohs Thai is a real deal thai line that has been inbred to where seed production had become difficult. Also seems to be high rate of males popping up in the offspring.
To say i say dissapointed when i saw 5 of 6 plants look very hybrid is an understatement, i trashed all but the narrow leafed one

Droahs chocolate thai was out crossed to some indica sativa hybrid by him himself. Are you using the snowhigh chocolate thai x chocolate thai. I think snow high made the other chocolate thai himself. On some of his packs he has double dipped chocolate thai and it says purple pheno x red pheno. Then it says Vietnamese purple pheno x Vietnamese red pheno. But will be intresting to see your pictures. Ive got droahs thai growing next to pure chocolate thai. Some pheno type in droahs arnt that far off. The bigger growing most longest to swich to flower are very similar. The real chocolate thai the leaves are longer and takes long to trigger then indoors takes 22-25 weeks to finsh. They give a chocolate camphor scent while growing (the camphor cures out when dried and aged)while the similar phenotypes of droah give a similar profile but as if some haze hybrid has been added. Growing the real chocolate thai next to droahs chocolate thai its quite nice to see the similarities in the most thai phenos. Their are faster flowering phenotypes in droahs chocolate thai, not shure what dna or whomever gave him but it looks similar to the lemon thai hybrid type. I remember Dutch flowers years ago released both lemon thai and a chocolate thai, both thais but hybridized and kept in Hawaii

Hi Keif or anyone, Can you tell me if Thai likes it easy on the nutes? Thanks

Hazeman said out of respect for Drawoh he wouldn't release a pure chocolate thai line. Just baffling even if thats the case why you wouldnt choose another pure sativa
Guess he changed his mind

No, thats the garbage Chocolate Thai we have been discussing. It doesn't say anything about being a hydbrid, but pop some beans and a narrow leaf plant will have to be searched for.
