Chop the buds and let them go?

I planted some outside about 1 1/2 months ago and they have started to bud. But one in particular has a decent top to it as well as smaller buds. Can I just cut these buds off and continue on? If so is there anyway way of going about this? I mean if I cut every bud off the plant would be pretty bare wouldnt it?

I think he want's to grow monsters though. I think that if it wants to flower its going to flower even if you cut them off. I don't have personal experience with this, but i imagine two options. If you cut them off I think you still need to bring it into an area with more sunlight to get it reveging. Or you can do like they do closer to the equator: In jamaica they have 2 harvests. So you could let them bud (even use the cover idea but that would mean going out there 2X daily), and then harvest it. With your area's environment (LA right?) you may have enough time for a reveg and second harvest. You may need to bring them in the barn for a few weeks when we have frost warnings, but my tomatoes from last year lasted until mid january. I only covered them with sheets about 5 or 6 nights. They even lasted through our snow in december without a cover (I'm close to I-10 if that reference helps you at all).
 
Btw, are we going to have any updates on your main thread for these puppies? I know I'm thread stalking but I'm anxious to see how they're all doin. It's been so sunny lately with decent rain, that my backyard garden (tomatoes, eggplants, beans) are growing like crazy. I'd like to see how your plants are responding to it. (all my transplants got flooded a few weeks ago when it seemed to storm all week; Bummer, i need to find a new site)

I had this same problem this year with four clones. My solution was: I took a bunch of cuttings from the flowering plants (a little harder to get them going when flowering but it works!). Then I put one plant under the light for 24/7 to get it to re-veg now. I left the other three outside to get a lil' harvest off them before I try to re-veg them as well. I took the cuttings as backups in case I cannot re-veg the budding plants, but hopefully I can get them all growing again through summer so I can get a nice fall harvest. Your plant might not stop budding outside right now untill it wastes more energy on buds for a while, as I think it is too far into its flowering cycle to let 14 hours off light stop it. If its in a pot you might try putting it under a light for 24/7 or let it bud, chop it down and hope it will re-veg. Either way I would take a few cuttings now to have as backup in case you can never get it to re-veg.
