Classic Seeds Grow Journal

There is a breeder who has caught my eye named Classic and he works under the label 'Classic seeds'. From what I understand, he's a very private breeder who has been collecting some of the best strains from around the world since the 60's. After much prompting from friends and fellow growers, he's decided to release some great crosses at a very reasonable price in effort to not only preserve these older strains, but to help out the medical community with reasonably priced seeds.

I'm a sativa guy so I've decided to grow his (Thai x Columbian Gold) x Romulan x C99 cross that I have.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

When it comes to germinating seeds, I prefer the paper towel method and within 72 hours, all 8 beans had popped.

Vegging under a 330 CMH in a mixture of promix and vermiculite:

I had a few pictures on my camera that I was just able to upload to my new computer. This grow has been going on for 10 days or so? These pics were taken some days ago and there will be new pics uploaded soon. These plants are currently big enough to be transplanted into 1 gallon pots.

Homebrewer i know your gonna kill it bro...wait untill ya smoke that weed LOL ya gonna luv it.

@Fresh yeah man hard to beat $43.50 10 seeds buy 2 paks get 1 free mix & match...

Great for newbs as well if u r a newb and your seeds dont grow for any reason...dog ate em ya water them w bleach ect.. makes no diff. Classic will replace them.. every one has to learn. He is here to help not to get rich or famous like some LOL

Classic is the originally breeder of Afgooie...He still has the original seeds used to make that cross no one else does!I see several breeders use it in Xs now(where is the credit?)

People are going to be very surprised w Classic Seeds he is a master breeder almost none left ..there's a big diff in these strains and those comin out of tha dam.His Rom isnt some purple clone the seeds came right from Joes hands...same w NLs & Jim.

Fire new stuff in the near future maybe fems down the road from Classic Seeds is what i hear.

This picture was taken last night making the plants about 16 days older than the plants in post #2. At this point, I usually pinch the tops off and wait for them to sex before I clone the ladies. Once the ladies have given me a couple of clones, I'll throw the 'mothers' into flower.

My goal for any first run with new seeds is less about trying to trim and train the females into bushy plants that yield well and more about seeing which females are special. In essence, priority number one is growing healthy plants which for me always yields the best meds. We'll worry about production on the next round.

Hello HB,

I have read your other journals and color me inspired. I plan on doing a flood and drain grow at some point but right now I am relegated to containers full of promix bx. I have never heard you give a specific Ph for growing in promix or any soiless medium. I recall you saying something like "shoot for between 6 and 7" . That's a mighty wide range. Could you possibly be a bit more specific. I have read that 6 is a good number for soiless but I would rather get hard info from someone I trust. Thanks in advance.

In promix, I only feed with a silica food and a base. The mixture of both results in a pH in the low 6's and that seems to work just fine. That's what I'll be doing in this journal so if you'd like to stick around and see how the plants do, you're more than welcome.

Oh I'll be watching trust me as I am subbed. I will be using dyna gro bloom/grow and proteck.
My tap comes out at 157 (442 conversion). I have a nice EC meter and from from what I gather you feed no more that EC .7 or 500PPM on the 442 scale, this of course in soiless. I plan on following those measurements as well. I know you have covered it in some detail but could you go over what ratio's of grow/bloom you use as you go along. Your grows are an inspiration!!!

It looks like your water is pretty decent there, that's good news. In flower, I never feed more than .8 EC (~550ppm) and feed at about half that for veg. I should mention I use RO. In bloom, occasionally I'll hit them with a 50/50 mix of grow and bloom but more often than not, I'm using only protekt and grow (especially during the 'stretch'). My goal is to provide these plants with a good environment and adequate doses of plant food as to allow the genetics to shine. Too many growers think they can manipulate these plants into doing something beyond what their genetics allow (in terms of yield) which usually means they're feeding with too much of the wrong kinds of food. That always results in an unhappy plant and unhappy plants not only yield poorly, but produce subpar meds.

Restraint and balance are key. Picture update tomorrow.

These plants were topped last Monday and have responded well with some solid lower branch growth. Sometimes I'll top a new strain and the the plant will continue to grow vertically without 'bushing out'. That's not the case here which is obviously desirable from a cloning perspective. Some of those lower branches will be in my clone dome in a few weeks after they've been sexed. Thus far I'm very pleased with the vigor and growth structure of these plants. Thanks for following along!

We're down to three potential females as I just yanked five males. Unfortunately the females are stretchier than any of the males I just culled so these will probably be topped one more time, cloned, then moved into flower in the next 2 weeks (assuming I have space).
