I always felt Clinton was one of the worst presidents of modern history for deregulating the banks and signing NAFTA, but I put most of the blame on Larry Summers because I didn't give Clinton enough credit to predict the outcomes. According to this hilarious rant by Lee Camp, Clinton had connections to the Koch Bros before becoming president and even let Koch industries off the hook while president. He links the Kochs to repealing Glass-Steagall, Bush v Gore, Citizens United, and Iran Conta. Fuck! Given their hatred for Obama I'm almost tempted to vote for him just to fuck them up. Almost.

while I have to agree on said issues although I didn't watch the video, Koch brothers are the founders of corporate tea-party aka the libertarian movement hijackers so they are definitly something I don't support for the mere fact of continuously hijacking the liberty movement to keep it in line with "mainstream views."..aka steal libertarian votes for the republicans, its the whole republican guise really, without this they would not get any votes with the exception of true statist.

Yah, I don't like the tea party either for that reason. I came across a stunning piece of propaganda the other day from 1952. It was a comic book called "Alice in Blunderland" and it was a satire of government. The last page laid out the agenda: Shrink the size of the Federal government, cut gov't waste, reduce taxes. Sound familar?

The group that put this out there didn't actually give a fuck about liberty. They just wanted to return to the sweat shop days of the 1920's before the new deal when business was insanely profitable. This propaganda didn't get people to show up at any rallies however. Fast forward to today and you have the same exact message, but the PR has been much better. Of course, fake protests aren't reserved for the Republicans. Occupy got hijacked by the Democrats shortly after the original demonstrations. They buried much of the original goals of the movement.

You should at least skim through that video, it's actually pretty entertaining.

That's true. I think deprave was thinking of the Ron Paul supporting segment of the Tea Party. I would estimate that they were a minority of the people identifying as Tea Party.

I like a lot of things about Ron Paul, but his support of free trade and his delusion that property rights are enough to prevent industrial pollution is extremely naive. I can see how the Koch Bros would see something to gain out of the policies of Ron Paul.

That being said, If Ron was running I'd vote for him. He's right on a lot of other issues where Romney and Obama are wrong.

So you are of the opinion that any group that wishes to cut taxes, shrink the size of government or cut government waste, actually intends to nullify laws on the books or engage in criminal activity in order to create more profit?

No. Not any group. The one from 1952 absolutely wanted to do that. Think of the significance of that. It was 1952. This was right in the middle of what historians refer to as the golden era of American Capitalism. Those are the days that a lot of current Tea Party people would like to return to. This was before the burdensome regulations and accusations of a nanny state. We were the most prosperous nation on the face of the earth. Nobody had any desire to return to the twenties when 25% of the population lived in poverty despite working long hours. There were some in the business community that were not cool with things. They didn't like having to chip in to social security and they didn't like labor laws. So they got together and created a company called Industrial Services that started publishing propaganda about a big oppressive government. Here is a link to the comic:

I don't claim that any group that wants to cut taxes, a smaller government, or to cut government waste is big business in disguise, but I do think the tea party was promoted by people with that intention. Freedom Works was one of the original promoters of the tea party and they clearly are the "Industrial Services" of today. The message they put out there is identical to the one from the fifties.

Now I realize that real people showed up to those rallies and I agree that some of them were making valid arguments. But I also think they were being used as props without knowing it.

Doesn't really have anyting to do with Ron Paul...Dr Paul is blacked out by these people...and Yes...His movement was even hijacked by them. Point being yes these are fake libertarians and I very much separate myself from them, (they disagree with me on a lot of issues, hell they disagree with libertarians on a lot of issues, they are clearly Republicans or Minarchist rather) I feel they hijack the real liberty movement.

If Dr Paul was a part of it then koch brother media puppets like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin would be all for Ron Paul. Instead they pretend he doesn't exist and when they mention him its a smear. Although Dr Paul has a lot of similiar views he doesn't follow their doctrine precisely and they disagree with him on quite a bit, foriegn affairs for example, Dr Paul really just stands on his own I believe.

Don't think it has anything do to with some kind of conspiracy like this is more or less just belief in Minarchy or a Night Watchmen State, which essentially falls in line with most Republican's views although this is not what the Republicans practice they sure do preach it.

You are talking about the John Birch society and it's precursors that followed the likes of Joe Mcarthy
I seen the fliers you are talking about, and many more from that time period. made an impression. Wish I would of kept a bunch. A old nutball used to have boxes of them from the 50s
