Clone is going to die soon I think. Mg deficient?

Hi everyone,

I had to leave town for a few days on business - I have a series of Critical Kush cuttings that had rooted ok and planted in 50% coco and 50% light potting mix.

They're all doing ok except for this one, this particular one was showing good promise from the host (I'm growing out the "mothers" from seed and wanted a copy of each to evaluate).

The growing tip is effectively just dead as you can see it's the only cutting out of all of them that is doing this. I *think* it's Mg deficient but I really want to run it past you lot I very much feel if I fuck up here then this plant is going to die on me.

Thanks.

To me, she looks very hungry. You didn't mention any nutrients so I'm presuming she needs Nitrogen and maybe some cal mag . Botanicare cal mag plus has some iron in it wich I like for helping with the green up. If you are feeding, then I don't know what it is and I'm going to shut up.

you could transplant into a bigger pot with some ff ocean forest soil from a grow shop and it'll green up for you.

I've done a soil/coco drench of 1/2 strength lucas and a foliar feed of epsom salts at 5ml/L. We'll see...

one problem a lot of people have is they try to control the grow. I can't help but disagree with the use of adding ferts to soil unless the grower knows what they're doing. this is a trial and error process, but there are soils that try to take out the guesswork. best of luck.

The soil mix she was sat in was 50% lightmix (low nutritional value) and 50% coco (no nutritional value) it's from that context I am adding a weak fertiliser solution. Otherwise I would agree 100%.

this really doesn't look like mg def, but the good news is that the ferts should cause it to green up. then you'll know you on the right track. just don't over do the ferts.

Its close to death with the growing tip dead and brown and it doesnt look like improving any time soon. Not sure how it happened maybe high temps or the medium is crap. Dont even think about cloning it wont have a chance as its very sick and the tip is dead.

Yeah the tip is fucked. There are 4 growing tips underneath that are not completely browned off, the plant hasn't been burned in any way it's been kept more than enough away (some might say too far) from a 125w fluorescent.

I very gently unearthed it from it's pot and it has had root die back... I wonder whether the soil mix that it was in had a hot spot of fertiliser or something, I don't get why the leaves are crisping off with it. I've re-potted it into a new load of lightmix and sprayed it down so it's damp and put a bag over it to reduce moisture stress. I think she's a gonner though.

Are you phing for coco? Could be lock out.

Could just need a boost of the nutes. Looks old enough for a higher dose if it's not overdone.

I've given up on her, I pulled apart the root cube and she had no root development - perhaps the temperatures got a little high and died off due to root rot, we have had a few high temperatures here...

Lesson learned, more roots before transplanting, once roots are fit for transplant err on the side of cool rather than warmer whilst the plant gets established proper.
