clone rooting

Hello everyone,
I cut a bunch of clones 10 days ago from a plant just into flowering. Potted straight into soil with rootech gel, and have kept the soil nice and moist since the went in. My question is, when will I know they're rooted/when is it safe to toss the ones that look like they'll die? I only want 5 out of this batch (3 to flower, 1 to clone, and 1 as a backup.) and at least that many are looking healthy. But, I don't want to be preemptive here either and start throwing some out if none of them have started rooting yet. Check out the pictures and let me know what y'all think. Any opinions and advice welcome!

All ways try and take clones in a way that they can be put in humidity dome,you are better of using cubes of some sort,the plants need to take in moisture in a few ways in the first week or so through the stem but also through the leafs.dont Rush them ,when you see new growth that's a good indicator that the clones have took but let them get slightly root bound in the cups

They can take three weeks to root sometimes depending on different things.

You should be misting the leaves with water for a while, I don't know if you are doing that or not. Good luck

Using soil as a rooting medium is a bad idea. Your success rates will be lower, usually a lot lower, and you will have to wait a lot longer to know if your plants rooted. The only way that you can tell with soil is if you wait until you see roots pop out the bottom of the container. Whatever you do, don't start digging in the soil looking for roots. Just wait it out.

I suggest using grow plugs like Root Riot (my preference) or Rapid Rooter in conjunction with a humidity dome. The roots don't have to travel far to reach the edge of the medium so you will find out of they rooted pretty quickly. This will save you time. I have seen roots in as little as 6 days using these. 7-10 days is typical, but strains that are more difficult to clone sometimes take longer. I typically have 95-100% success rates this way unless it's a difficult strain to clone.

The cuts in the photos that are droopy are most likely dead. They very rarely recover when they look like that.

Thank you all for the tips and info! I was intending to get a humidity dome for them, but just never got around to it. But I am misting with water twice a day and have other ways of keeping the rh higher. Hopefully I'll have a dome for the next round though! As far as plugs and the like, can I use them and then transfer to soil after roots are coming out? I'm not super concerned if some die (like I said, I have a lot, and only want a few) but keeping them as healthy and happy as possible is always nice. Also, I know I probably kept way to many leaves on them...oh well lol.

if they start to wilt at all, and they will

spray a see thru trash bag with water and cover over the plant

leave 24 hours then remove

if it wilts again repeat

Yes the plugs go straight into soil when roots appear.
