hey what steps are you using to cut the clones? this is how i clone. i use a sharp pair of scissors and cut the branch that i want to clone all the way to the main stalk at a 45. i put the cutting in a glass of tap water. when my clone unit is ready i will cut the clone to my desired length UNDER WATER then dip into olivia's cloning gel. then place my clone in my diy cloning machine. i use 2 different. one is just a dark colored square container about 3inches deep with the lid dark also(black preferred), i cut 1 inch holes in the lid and use the black copper pipe insulation its a long black tube to go over copper pipe to keep it from freezing,i cut 2 inch pieces if that for colors to hold the clone, i use regular tap water and an air stone and air pump. place cut clones in a collor then insert collor and clone in the 1 inch holes and let the stems just hang in the water with the air bubbler going 24/7. low light like a single cfl is fine just remember the temps need to be around 75-80.degrees so a warm place is key. with in 7-10 days you will see roots starting. i always change my res. every other week. the other unit is a 5 gallon bucket with 2"neopreem pucks and a pump spraying water through mister heads to the stalks or cuttings .. both can be done for less then $50 each. so if you have money then you can buy a cloning machine or build one to suite your needs not the general public. good luck and KEEP ON GROWIN.

Not a pro but i was told not to make it too wet& remember to give it air. Heres what i use 20130528_093922.jpg20130528_093956.jpg i use the hydro foam cubes to put my cuts in& it works great for me

My attempts with a dome were a flop so I'm using a dyi bubbler now.

I had humidity problems, rockwool too wet/too dry, green slime, etc. Got to a point that I was cleaning the dome pretty much on a daily basis, and the clones that did live, took a very long time to root and not all of those lived either.

So, I'm having better luck with the bubbler, not like everybody else though (5 days to roots showing), but better.

Good luck.

when they start to droop mate, i usually open the vents on the dome or remove the dome completely for a few hours.

How much water are you giving it? I guarantee you are overwatering.

It is pretty hard to kill clones.

My method (100% success rate so far, 7-12 days to root):
- Cut a clone wherever the hell you feel like it, at a 45 degree angle
- Dip in roottech cloning gel
- Place in rockwool cube
- Keep cube moist, but not wet
- Clip off the tips of the fan leaves
- Mist & Dome for the first ~3 days until they can survive without the dome without wilting.

It's very common for them to wilt slightly the first 1-2 days, they will come back.

If you use rockwool, DO NOT squeeze the cubes. It is necessary to maintain the proper moisture/air ratio that rockwool is designed to optimize. Air is as important for root growth as moisture is.

I'll generally take the dome off on day 3 and see roots by day 7. Varies a bit by strain, and will vary based on your individual environment.

EDIT: I almost forgot, I also have my cloning domes on top of seedling heat mats. Heat underneath promotes root growth as well.

EDIT2: I'm also running a few side-by-side tests right now, plain water VS diluted nutrient solution VS water + SuperThrive.
It looks like the SuperThrive solution is doing the best, but I won't know until I see roots pop.

What is the pH of your water?

Rockwool cubes are initially higher-than-optimal pH (I've rooted a lot of clones without adjusting the rockwool pH, but it definitely helps).

Lately I've begun (forgot to mention this part too) soaking the Rockwool cubes in a 5.5 pH solution for at least 30-60 minutes.

Then I flush the cubes with ~pH 6 water (or ~pH 6 water/superthrive, etc.), and shake out excess water until they weigh about 35-40g.

I also generally cut my clones with at least 2-3 nodes, and just slice off all but 1-2 growths with a clean, sterile razorblade. Sometimes I'll use the razorblade to "skin" the bottom of the cutting as well before I coat it in rooting hormone.

I've done some or most or all of the stuff I've mentioned on clones, I've noticed a difference but sometimes I'm just lazy and they still survive.

You might not be doing anything wrong. Some strains can be very stubborn when it comes to cloning.
