Clones not taking.

I have read and watched many video before trying to clone my first clones. I decided to try yesterday some White Widow clones. The mother plants are in great condition. So heres what I did. I followed the steps to the best of my knowledge. I got a steralized blade, one that comes from the doctors office, I wore non powdered latex gloves at all times. I cut the lower branches at a 45 degree angle and then split the lower peace so that it could root better. I dipped them into clonex for about 45-60 seconds. I put them in rock woole after soakeing them for a while. I then put them into a small container that I purchased form a Hydroponics shop, the one with two small vents on the top that you can open or keep closed. I keept the vents closed, then sprayed a small mist to get the humidity started. I then put them under a florscent light. A day later they are all dying and wilted. What did I do wrong?

Thanks

I'm having clone problems too, but I think I cooked 2 of them by leaving them outside in the sun for too long. The one that has not been outside is the only one that's alive, but lately, it too has been looking a bit shabby.

first, many people will say many tricks but i have 99.99% success rate for years now and i just slice from the plant and into cloner. no special blade, gloves, angle of cuts or prayers needed. many make it like it is something special and really hard to do if you dont do exactly this or that. bullshit. its a weed, it needs basics. my clones never even droop a little and have roots in 7-11 days. i cant imagine the amount of time i would have wasted over the last couple of thousand clones if i had done all of that.

I have cut em.. tossed em in a glass of water kept the glass out of the sun-heat and they root..

SuperStoner has got it..
its a weed.. it WANTS to grow most of the time given the conditions are ok

open up the vents and Rockwool needs to be moist not soaked.A couple of wrist flicks will pull out the saturation in the cube.Stable temps between 70-80*F helps, and mist the inside dome not the plants from what I read.Keep them warm, moist and lightly humid looks like the key.

Yeah I say cloner I tried the domes and all that but the cloner takes all the wondering out i still use powder but put it in the cloner and forget about it

" the one with two small vents on the top that you can open or keep closed." OK, I got 3 of that same dome.
Here's where I like jiffy pellets over rockwool. After you have the clone dipped and stuck into the cube/pellet
what do you do next? Answer: you have to keep the floor of the dome completely covered by water for the entire
time the clones are in the dome. All the extra water provides for the 100% humidity we need inside the dome. You
can't set a r'wool cube or jiffy pellet directly on the dome floor as they will absorb too much water, the stem falls over
and the clone dies. I put my jiffy pellets into a 10 oz. plastic cup with 3 drain holes drilled in the bottom. I put that cup
into another cup of the same size w/o holes. That way I can nest both cups w/clone and lift out the holed cup. Every 2 or 3 days
I dip the holed cup into a cup of water for 3-5 seconds. I like the jiffy pellets because it is easier with them to see just how
much water siphons from the cup of water to the holed cup. I want just the bottom third of the pellet to be saturated. Takes just a couple seconds
to get enough but not too much water. After dippiong the holed cup I slide the other cup over it and set it right in the water at the
bottom of the dome. This is important as clones are much tougher to get to root if you don't have the constant high humidity.
Learned a long time ago that I want to see condensation on the inside of the clear dome EVERY TIME! So flood the floor, close those
vents, slip a $27 seed heating mat under the dome and learn to water clones from below. That stimulates critical root growth
as well as helping avoid deadly stem rot.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Don't spray the leaves. It weighs them down too much. Spray the inside of the dome if you need to add humidity.
