Clones outdoors?

Last grow season, my friend and i bought 5 clones from a dispensary in so cal. Every one of them started budding at a foot tall. Then 2 weeks ago, we wanted to try it one more time and so we bought one grape ape clone. The first week it did not grow, until about 5 days ago it it started growing fast. But then today, ive noticed that it has started to flower. Is it possible to grow clones outdoors without having them bud at a foot high? (I'm thinking that the clones were probly under a lot of hours of light compared to my spot that gets 11 hours of direct sunlight. *also when we purchased this clone, we asked the guy at the dispensary if this clone would grow tall, and he replied of coarse, it will do very well right now outdoors. We believed him, and now we have a foot tall plant thats budding...) any advice? has anyone grown clones outdoors before???

Clones grow just fine outdoors. What light cycle are you using? Here is a pick of some clones from 09'

The spot that i have my plants at currently get direct sunlight from 830 till 7ish.. do i have to have them in longer sunlight to make sure they dont bud at 1ft tall???

if your plants get more than 12 hours of uninterupted darkness 9 times out of 10 your plants are gonna start flowering, some require more some require less, check the sunrise and sunset times in ur location and see how much sun you are getting during the day

The plant doesn't need direct sunlight. It's best to have direct sunlight but really like 8 hours is enough. The plant knows when the sun goes down even if not in direct light. The only reason your plant will flower now is because it's early April and not mid May.

was the clones running 24/0? I notice if they go from 24/0 to outdoors, they flower right away. what I do, and others I know do, is gradually bring the light down in increments indoors gradually then throw them outdoors. then they don't flip right away.

ya, true. I had a plantt last year that was over 7ft. tall and still growing when I had to abandon it. it spent most of the time in the shade

dude you put em outside way to early in the season! i wont be putting mine out til after 4/20 thats when our days here in cali will be gettin long enough for the plants to stay in veg! generally plants need around 14+ hours of light to stay in veg outdoor. check out this website http://www.gaisma.com/en/dir/us-ca-country.html it might help you out with light scheduling for outdoor plants! always compincate for shade and things and find the best angles for more direct sunlight to your plants and you can get big plants from clones!!

I grow most of my weed outdoors and clones do very good outdoors but I have experinced tge same as u have clones flowering around one foot tall after sum research I found out if ur plants get 12 hours of complete darkes they will enter the flowering stage also in my opnion combined with the 12 hours of darkness if the temp drops the also flower hope this helps bro

14 hrs of light to stay vegged outdoors? I'm screwed then!! I only get 13 hrs of daylight max (summer solstice) where I live

Get a clip on CFL and a timer. When the sun goes down have your timer come on for a few more hours. Sounds ghetto but it may get you to May.

Thanks everyone for your input. I feel like an idiot right now. Im helping my friend grow at one of his relatives house, and i personnaly havn't seen the clone in 5 days. He said it was budding, thats why i went on here trying to figure this shit out. But when i went to check it out today, guess what...its not budding!!! lol. its actually 4 inches taller. my friend just doesn't have the eye, lol.
But last year i did have 5 clones with my friend that budded at that height, so maybe thats why he was being kinda sketched.

but ya i understand now. i will make sure i will convince my buddy next year not to plant clones till 4/20. Cause that is when the nights start getting warm, when i can wear shorts and a tshirt.ha. But so far this year, this weather this month has been awesome. i have 8 other plants that are from seeds(bill maher-which is L.A. confidential X jack herrer) and Rhino Cheese( White rhino X cheese X Florida Kush) and they are growing very nice, if i get a camera i will post them for sure. O ya, we just picked up a few more seeds today, platinum kush(dont know what makes that up) and Hogs Dream( hogs breath X Blue Dream). All are from medical marijuana dispensaries in Dana Point(they told us they got the bill maher and rhino cheese from Humboldt county), and in San diego city.

id say get em out out now cuz your days are gettin longer they are close enough to 13 hours that you should be fine to get em out and have a good veg time!

It's a very long grow season. Mid May is the time for most of North America.

ya our weather here in northern cali isnt being forgiving right now tho so im keepin mine under the lights til at least 4/20 or later u know... plus its 4/20 so theres not a better day for planting! and blazin!
