New to growing set to run and ran into a roadblock at the start line. Planned to start with clones can get some from local hydro shop 20$ per genetics unknown single strain will only sell 6 . Looking at Maine clone co/Atlantic seed because they’re legitimate and prices are decent no delivery it’s a trip I don’t really want to take. Was going to go through clone conservatory and pickup locally but the list they offered was much different from website and double or more the price. Owner in cali… says get ‘‘em before theyre gone 15 per on site 35 per is price he wants tried to haggle not much wiggle room. Seems like a lot of opportunists out there. Any advice welcome the mail option almost seems safer at this point. I thought getting clones would be the easy part they seem readily available until you actually get down to trying to order a few dozen. I know the game been out a while though reached out to a guy that works at a nursery in my state everybody’s tight lipped I get it. Any advice welcome frustrating when I’m ready to run and held up sourcing plants thinking about buying seeds and germinating myself just thought clones with proven history would give me a head start as a new grower
Thanks

I'd just get some seeds and start growing.

You'll find the majority of us started this way, long before the internet layed out steps to follow...and way before all the unnessary gidgets and gadgets.

Clones are a gamble and will need to be quarantined... and often need to be nursed until they acclimate to their new enviorment.

Seeds are really the way to go for a new grower.

There's also all the drama about HPLVD being spread through clones.

It’s scary now really. Clones were never such a scratch before. It used to be a prime way into some killer shit.

Sure is, but I think it was bound to happen with such a muddy unregulated sectore of AG

I read that the virus can passed to the seeds of an infected plant. In several years tissue culture will be the only way to go.
There are plenty of disease free genetics available and will be in the future.
Kind stands to reason why ALL growers should do a little bit of their own preservation work.

I know I've become much more aware of how I store my seeds and pollen

Not saying there isn't or there's not. My point was that you don't know unless you get cultured genetics.
I'm 100% sure that my seed stash is just fine. It's mostly landraces I've reproduced and crosses I've made with them. I'll continue growing cannabis from seed for the rest of my life. I have absolutely no need to bother with cultured genetics. Others can worry about all that. Myself and many others will be just fine and disease free.

The fear certain entities are causing is a good way to make significant profit for some.

I'm thinking about investing in the equipment to do my own tissue culture with a focus on meristem. It's not as difficult as some would lead you to believe. With so many freaking out it looks like a good business opportunity.

Dude, clones or even developed plants from the outside and from a grow you can't inspect and yadda is an open invitation to powdery mildew and bugs to move on in. And if you think because they come from a commercial operation that you'll be safe from those things then think again.

Buy seeds. KISS.

Got the point about seeds! Going to order a bunch over the weekend the seeds I see still run 10$ or so per fem seed maybe looking in wrong places? Clones run 15$ or so per and are ahead a month any recommendations on reputable seed supplier welcome think I’ve looked at clones and seeds more in the last week than I ever wanted to many more options than I would have thought

The clones might be ahead by a month but seeds will likely have a lot vigor to make up for it.

About a month from now I’ll have grape gas clones phenohunted by CLTVTD genetics in NorCal. Still gotta join the community fully but there’s plenty of good ppl I’ve met on the forums for cuts and genetics. Be active and pay attention to who’s who and in no time you’ll network and find the right ppl. Good luck! 7877E150-D075-4D82-A930-F6B764035724.jpeg3EC8DC75-CEE0-4B63-9FC0-332D7341B299.jpeg
