cloning question...

i have 3 super lemon haze plants, that i started from seed, that have been under t5's for 13 days 24/7 light schedule. they are about 3-3 1/2 inches tall with 5-6 leaves coming out. id like to put them into flowering after around three weeks. ive never cloned a plant before, but it seems easy enough, i just dont think any of them will be big enough to take a clone off of. if the plant isnt big enough to take a clone off of in about 9 days, can i put them into flowering under the hps, let it grow for a week or 2, and then take a clone and throw that in the clone machine back under the t5's for 24/7? my goal is to get a mother out of it while still being able to flower all 3 without holding one back. any advice would be appreciated, thanks.....

the answer is not going to be what you want to hear by the sounds of it. honestly my advice is to grow your plants in veg.. 8 weeks... then take clones.

let these clones root.. (takes a few weeks to root) put these into flower then once you have sex of potential mothers, you keep those to do the rest of your plants.

You can do what you're talking about but if you take clones from a flowering plant, they have to spend energy reverting back to veg, they should be spending on building roots... it takes longer in the long run..

do it right, patience is a must buddy... you think trying to get your plants into flower takes forever, it's going to kill you letting it dry and cure properly..lol.. you can do it though.. try it out.. you might find it is just perfect for you to do it like you want...

I haven't had problems cloning flowering plants, I had one with a little bud on it already (3-4 weeks). It def. will take longer to root but if you are using the big lights on something else anyhow than that really won't matter.
Can I recommend something else though, veg them 'till you can take decent clones off of them, take 2 clones off of each plant and put the clones into flowering right off the bat, that way you know which mothers are really fathers :) and which ones to keep.

sexing shouldnt be a problem as they are feminized seeds, and i have 5 different strains besides the SLH, including (papaya, blue mystic, vanilla kush, strawberry haze, and cheese), the BM, and papaya are from nirvana. the SLH, SH, and cheese are all from the greenhouse. i saw they won the cannabis cup a bunch of times and figured they must be good, after which ive read that its pretty political, and they may not be as good as they seem. whatever they cant completely suck i hope. i want to get these plants into flowering soon because i've read they grow pretty tall and i am trying to keep them a little shorter. also i only have room for maybe 3 mothers and im not sure which of the 6 i am going to keep. so if taking a clone off the flowering plant doesnt work, its not a big deal. would anyone have any suggestions on which 3 of the 6 strains to keep as mothers for an indoor grow. an area only about 3 1/2 feet wide, 10 feet long, and goes from about 3 feet to almost 8 in height for the flowering process. have never grown any of these strains, they are all suppose to have similar yields, with various heights. any good suggestions would be appreciated on which strains would work the best in the space available.

suggestions on the best type of grow would be nice too, i was thinking about having 8 total plants flowering at a time, while rotating 2 new plants in and harvesting 2 every 2 - 2 1/2 weeks +/- depending on the strain and what not. the room grows in height, but is only goes from about 3 feet tall to 6 feet tall to the middle of the room, so im thinking of starting flowering after around a month of veg and letting them shift with the height of the room. i dont know if i should top them or anything, anyone have any thoughts?

thanks hookd, i was pretty sure you could, just wanted confirmation.
No problem bro! Glad I could help! The more plants growing on this planet the happier I am! :hump:

And I wouldn't top If I was you, maybe try some LST, that way you don't have to worry about slowed growth from stress. Unless that's why you we're wanting to top, to slow growth a bit. But if not, if just trying to save some room, just slowly and gently bend the plant and make it grow how YOU want it to grow! That's what I do, work's FANTASTICALLY for me. Just a little FYI
