Cloning Questions, Again!

I have had great luck in the past cloning in jiffy pods and powder using a tub with a layer of soil in it using a cover and heat pad. But i am now using a flood and drain setup so need to come up with new method. I think I've decided to go with a DIY bubbler. My question is i have never been able to keep a clone alive without using a dome. I read lots dont use dome's, is it the method of cloning or am i doing something wrong even if most live. Realistically over time i probably have an 80 percent success rate for robust clones.

WD,
You could continue using your current technique only with the small rockwool cubes. That's what I used with E&F, and once rooted, I nestled the cube in the hydroton. Might that work?

And regarding aerocloners...with the water bubbling underneath, they create a little micro-climate which prevents moisture loss and wilting.

I vegged and Flowered my first plant using the E n F method and I started in 1" cube.

(I'm just flowering my 2 nd plant, I'm on 13th day she was in veg over 140 days.)

I put the babies under a plastic hood and I use a warming mat,
but I put 1/2" plywood board between the tray and mat.

It helped me to dial the temp into 82 degrees under a T5 95 watt 4 bulb fixture.

I use a cheap clear plastic humidity dome over a plastic tray.

I use a product called Olivia's to start feeding babies.

1/4 strength misted 3 times a day and 24/7 lighting till the roots are coming out the bottom of the 1" cube, took 3-5 days.

( I did twenty seeds to start with that method, I have since cloned in the same manner with success. )

I placed the 1" cubes into a 3" ones and then I raised the dosage of Olivia's to 1/2 strength for another 5 days.
5th day I moved it into the Flood n Drain setup and switched over to Fox Farm hydro Trio and 18/6 lighting.

(I add 1 gram Epsom salt per gallon of water to supplement the Magnesium.)

I put hydroton in my Flood tray which is a cheap black concrete tray on a PVC stand.

Funny how easy it came for me, not a big cloner, did`t actually have room for much, but as I did prune some of my first plants a few years back when I began to grow indoors and I don't like to trow out the cuttings I just placed em in a glass of water and with in 10-14 days I got em to set roots, have done it multiply times since then, and have`t bothered to get any dome or cloning gel or anythings like that, I mean why should I ? might have been lucky as I think the LSD from Barneys I mostly grow is a easy one to clone, but also did it with a Skunk 1# from seedmans, only things I have added since the first times is a few drops of H2O2 (3%) to keep it clean and add a bit of oxygen and a lit to shilled the root zone from light and I maybe mist em in the start if they look droopy and I get 95% of em to root with in a week or two

so like when it comes to growing this beautiful plant my best advice is to not make it more complicated then necessary, Im sure a dome, some cloning gel could speed up things a bit for me, but I have time

p.s.
I just place em under my T5HOs in normal tap water with a temp/RH on 74F/50%

Thanks all and yes JD i could continue doing the same thing but with RW. And that is an option that would be the easiest. It was my understanding that bubblers were faster and more reliable. I basically do what you do now dog and i also have Olivia's but dont use anything before the roots show other than water and powder. I guess I will wait and see what seems to work better for people. I also still need to divide the shed into two areas again after tearing down the veg area last spring to make room for a grow from seed blitz lol. As slipon's method I have had that work but on a limited bases and I think your right, strain makes a difference. I have had nearly 100% success with skunk#1 in the past where as the White Russian has been a bitch for me lol. I also am very picky and have not found anything that is clone worthy iMO. Hopefully the Kosher will provide a winner. Also a friend gave me what are supposedly "blue elephant" seeds, we'll see lol. I've have a selection of seeds that have been gifted by a seed shop to run trials on as well including Jean Guy so this maybe a winner as well !!! Thanks for the responses!!!

best of luck with whatever method you choose! i have used RW to root clones but have ended up sticking with rapid rooters. i get roots just as easily but a few days sooner and no pre-treatment of the plugs needed. i am very happy with them :)
