Cloning success without dome in 48-55% RH

I find that I consistently get the best results from clones that are left in normal humidity conditions. Only the stem needs high humidity. I think the clone can get water more easily if you peel off the outer green layer off the bottom of the cutting, but I'm not sure

Some plants get unhealthy and stunted after being in very high humidity for a long time:

It took a long time for this plant to get healthy new growth
When they are introduced to lower humidity they can wilt and die even though they have roots!

Here is another plant which is stunted from high humidity. The tips of the leaves will turn brown, curl and wilt. Overall the plant is chlorotic despite good roots.

I have simplified the process. I stick them in whatever and just make sure it's wet enough to keep the cutting from wilting. Only big leaves use a lot of water. You can clone big branches or small ones. The plants go in healthy and come out healthy

I don't use hormones or anything special anymore, just tap water, no matter the medium. 7.3-8 PH, 0.4 EC, whatever. Stick them in soil, plugs, coco, perlite, it doesn't matter.

This kind of wilting is fixed by spraying the medium. In 2 hours the cutting is back in action. (same color but looks a bit different in the photo)

I prefer perlite, root sponges or 100% coco, which release their water easily.
Pictures of all different genetics... all thrive in 50-55% RH 71-77F. Just some inspiration ... if some of your clones get unhealthy in a dome, consider ditching the dome.
