Cloning - Where to cut?

I'm leaving my plants in a Vegetative state until they grow a bit higher and until I can figure out if they are male or female. I would like to create a clone and bud/flower it to see its sex but I'm not sure where to cut it. I've included some picks with color on it for some advice. Also, those cut branches are where I pruned the big leafs to give the other branches more light.

Q: Is there a general rule to cloning? 3 set of branches up, 2 from the end, etc
Q: With the pictures and color coding i've provided, can someone recommend a cut spot?

Thanks!

Cut 2 or three leaves down at the branch, then cut those bottom 2 sets of leaves off. Doesnt really matter where you cut. I think that is a male plant.

I have heard that the fact that the branches are growing in a Y on each side of the branch it is more likely male. All my plants are females and the branches are alternating on each side. I dont know for sure tho.

There is no way of telling a plant sex until it begins to flower, then you will notice either little oval balls for males, or long white hairs which can curl for females. You cant tell with that pic yet.

ya I agree with robbie, you have a way to go still I think. There is no point in cutting a clone until you know you have a female plant and if you're keeping the light 18/6 or 24 your plant isnt going to flower or show signs of sex. If ready, change lighting schedule to 12/12 and it's possible in a couple weeks you may be able to tell whats going on in gene's of those plants.
Good luck!!

HUH ? Think about that for second, if that was the case everyone would be reverting flower to veg to clone... That is not the case people clone for sex everyday...

Yea, You can cut a mature 8 week plant for a clone, and force flower to tell its sex early or not, and I think is a good Idea. I really don't know where to cut as far as cutting the clone. I was actually TRYING TO FIND OUT TO :)

thare is no sex showing on that plant. i hate hearsay. anyways you need to have 2 nodes above the cut area and the clones will root fine. just make sure you have leaves on that thing otherwise...no solar energy. late

Sorry icabus, obviously Im wrong. I didnt think about the possibility of cloning to find out sex, it actually sounds like a great idea (i might just try that my self). Im still pretty new here and I thought I was helping, but sometimes amatures should keep their thoughts to themselves:(.
Sorry bro, I didnt mean to lead you astray..

Good luck..

No worries! The good thing about a social/collaborative community forum is that its self-repairing. If there's something incorrect, someone will notice and help correct it .. like wikipedia.. If someone writes an article about something and the facts are a bit off .. someone will notice, update it and it will be correct.

I'm going to hold off for two more weeks then cut a clone. I need to make a DIY cloning unit real quick from some homedepot&Ikea parts. Thanks everyon! I'm also making myown wood bloombox for shits and giggles .. pretty fun when you get started!
