I don't want to make a new thread for a question that can be answered here, most likely...

Im cloning using peat pellets, I took my clones 5 days ago and they still seem a bit moist, I know over watering is the worst thing to do so i'm trying to let them dry up a bit before adding water to the bottom of the tray I just don't want to wait to long though. So to anyone who clones with peat pellets: when do you first water your pellets?

Lets say I have a plant 40 days into flowering but I want to take a clone so i can keep the genetics. Is this ok? will the following generations stay true or will they lose some of their vitality?

can be done just takes longer to root. It's a good save if u lost (only have flowering) some key genetics though.

I always wanted to ask ya why you use the RR's upside down.I know they stand up better that way,just seems like it would fuck with the cuttings with a hole all the way through.I use rubber bands when the hole is too big,but I think I'll try the upside down RR tonite on a few just to see if it makes a difference.Asta.

They are the shit.Some of the older fellas Dont want to use em because they are moist.Oh Well the proof is in the roots.I gave up on Rockwool a long time ago.

I started with suv method and tweaked it a little, but until I found his method though I was comlicating things way too much. With my diy prop, a heat mat and 2x 2ft 40w t12 fluoros I get about 90% success rate.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I dont even humidity dome my clones. That could be why they take a bit long to root out, but I've only had 1 cutting fail to root in over a year. I just cut em, place em in Hydroton and place them in the bubbler.

You don't need a humidity dome.
When I don't use a humidity dome I mist a lot more tho. And really, when/if the clones start to wilt , the dome works well at getting them back rigid.

I am hoping to become a fellow botanist. I have a question. I have read that you should not clone a clone and clone a clone too many times because of degrading genetics. Is this true? And what is your take on this, your opinion will be highly regarded. :)

Subcool,

Do you sex your plants and put them back into veg? I thought I saw a label that said male. Or do you take clones and then keep the females clones only after the mother plant showed its sex?

How often do the rapid rooters have to be watered in the week following taking the clones if using a humidity dome like your using?

i have had 100% success by switching to the shoe box method.
its pretty easy guys.. i would just follow along with what subcool does here because it works everytime
and i have personal experience of that :)
takes 5-7 days to root for me, clones never wilt. 100% germination of seeds as well.
shoe boxes, clonex, rapid rooters, water, floros, success!
