Closet grow, first time need advice!

Hey guys, I just joined and am a new member. I also started growing and this is my first grow. Im growing a northern light x big bud plant 100% indica in my closet. It is a weak set up but I think it is good enough (except the light) and I am not looking for a professional set up. I have a 13 watt fluorescent light buld. I know its not enough and I am going to buy a stronger lamp, but the problem is I have no clue how much wattage I need. The seeds were feminized autoflowering seeds so the plant needs light 20 hours a day throughout vegetative and flowering stage. It has to be a fluorescent light or a cfl that i can just plug in into an outlet so please give me the best advice you can. If you got any other tips and notes for a new grower please feel free to share. Also my plant is already a week old, how often should I water it. Ive read that a lot of noobs kill the plant by overwatering it so ive been taking it easy like once every 2 days is that not enough?

thanks

if you have just one plant i would say min of 4 cfls of a min of 30 watts (each) its best to start with bulbs that are high 6000k for the first 3weeks or so and when it starts to flower get around 2000k bulbs. the more bulbs the better. it all depends on how big your plant, pot, and hour of lights are on for watering. i would say every other day for the first 4 weeks if your doing 20+ of light a day, after 4 weeks i would say every 24hour. am not a pro but this is what i have concluded from my grow, but look around on youtube and google.

Invest in a good dimmable ballast. Figure on 50 to 100 watts per sq. ft. If you can live with staying small, get a 150 watt HPS light from home depot and rewire it. Be careful because the bulb gets very hot. The whole idea that CFL's produce less heat is somewhat wrong. They produce less heat because they also produce less light. HPS produces less heat per lumen than CFL. If you must go CFL get one of the 200 watters for $75.

If your first grow doesn't pay for your lights and then some you've done something wrong.

watts arent always the answer with cfls. Lumens is what ya want. Im running a bunch of 13w cfls. 4 13w 6500k 900lumens each and 2 13w 2700k 860lumens each and 2 23w 6400k 1500lumens each in a 2x2x2 grow box. its the matter of knowing what amount of lumens ya need per sq.ft. also gotta keeps your cfls around 2-3 inches away from plant. Thats the disadvantage... as they grow they tend to hit the lights as they are alot closer then MH/HPS would be.
