CLW Solar System 550

Anyone have any experience with the new California Light Works Solar System 550? Seems like a good buy at $640 and a 5 year warranty. Links to grow journals would be great!

well built unit with nice options. whiter spectrum at full power than their last year osram models. would recommend. where do you see it at that price?

Growers house may have changed, it was two weeks ago. CLW offered discount by email after I inquired to them. This was for two units plus a controller. Controller was full price. Growers house offered extra year warranty and another 5% off if you join "Grow Crew".

i have 2 of these in a tent with four 220s and an 880 (all 2015 osram)

def a whiter spectrum than last years models. dimming feature is nice as im running mine at 80% right now. seem to be similar results to the 2015 solarstorms (fantastic). whole tent has nice uniform development

will do a par test vs dimming for the three channels after this run is done in 3 weeks

I just got an email to be a test grower for the 550. Is is better or comparable to COBs? I have Vero 22s and cxb3590s in my cabinet now...

I don't think anyone has had them long enough to know how they compare. I'm digging them though. COBs won't have that programmable spectrum or controller. So there's that if you are at all interested with those types of features. If I didn't have too many lights already I'd be down to try one or two out

I have plenty of lights too but I'm always looking to expand the operation or sell off some of my older COBs. I have some Vero 18s that I could rotate out if the Solar Flare is worth rotating in.

I too would like more input from clw users as for a u.s. based company warranty & prices seem good growers house has a good rep as well

If you live in US they have a program for the unit. Got a mail saying that and something about a discount.

the gear is top notch, no doubt about it

Yes. The lights are very high quality. The grow under them alongside the cobs seems to be very healthy. Will know for sure in another month and half or so. So far they're pretty awesome.

How much area will each of the 550's cover in a real grow room environment?
