co2 consumption

I got sold on a co2 controller for my grow room that turns on the exhaust fan when the humidity or temperature reaches a desired level and turns off the co2 at the same time. The problem is it is hard to predict how much co2 to pump into my 1000 sq ft room. I ran through a 50lb co2 tank in 2 weeks during flower 12-12 cycle. This seems really fast for such a big tank. Should I put the co2 controller on a timer to only cycle like 15 minutes out of the hour?

That seems excellent unless I too have a problem. My room is much smaller and my 20 pound tank lasts 8 days sometimes 10 and I run non stop 1/2 hour after lights on 1/2 hour before lights off. I don't have 100% sealed room. If I shut of the fans it gets too hot. So I run fans and co2 all day. I have a digital sniffer hanging canopy level. Maintains 1200 to 1400 sometimes a spike of 1500. Hope to also hear what others say. Good question

humans exhale an average of 2.3 pounds of CO2 per day, just pay a homeless guy to live in your grow room... can't fail!

This is what i plan on doing, you should consider the fact that Co2 is so easy to produce in quantity over long periods that buying it shouldn't even enter into the equation. Read this -

Cut a small hole in the lid of the two liter bottle just big enough for the small tube to fit in it. Slide the tube down into the hole until it is about 3 cm below the cap. Finally, seal the hole with your silicone sealant to make the entire device air tight.

Mix the yeast, baking soda, and sugar into the water and dissolve all the materials well. Once dissolved and thoroughly mixed, pour your solution into the bottle and seal the cap on tight.

Bury the end of the plastic tube into the soil of your house plant and keep the two liter bottle level and sideways so the liquid contents don't empty into the soil. Since the bottle is airtight, the yeast will resort to anaerobic reactions and begin to produce carbon dioxide. With nowhere to go except out the tube, the carbon dioxide will empty into the soil and eventually reach the plant.
