CO2 tablets

Hi riu

I saw somewhere on one of the hydroponics websites that they were selling co2 tablets (presumably dissolve in water) and i was thinking of adding co2 to my grow - its just a small grow (2plants) but if it will increase my yields then im willing to give it a try - has anyone tried using these tablets or have you any other inexpensive methods to add co2 - thanks.

i remember seeing those , if they are the same ones then imo they are too bloody expensive to keep up, may as well just do DIY yeast and sugar method( loads of info and vids on You tube), i heard that works wonders and its cheap:)

yeast and sugar eh?...

never heard of dry ice being used... where do you get that

do you think i will notice much of a difference with the co2 - my growroom seems to stabilise at about 80F and i was reading that 80-90F is ideal for added co2

Has anyone tried the yeast and sugar method - and if so is it ok just to leave it in there 24/7 with the fans on etc - how long can you expect a bottle to last - i have two large 2L plastic bottles im thinking of adding them both in.

the vids i have seen on you tube say that their bottles last around a week or more , if u regularly lightly shake em, if they still fizzing they are still working basically, now for the science bit ( where ill be in danger of stating the wrong thing but AFAIK Co2 is heavier than air in your tent so will accumulate around the bottom, whether this will go straight up ur exaust pipe i dunno so i guess it will be a good idea to have a time where your fans are switched off but tbh i wouldnt for the fear of increased humidity and heat which we both know is bad for ya plants, so lets go with the theory that Co2 is heavier gas and will stay in ya tent long enough to be of benefit without turning them off :P

Im definitely going to give it a go - i leave the fans on overnight anyway and there is a lot of air movement and circulation in there anyway

basically - its worth a try - cant do any harm.

I wonder why it has to be 80-90F for co2 to be effective... like i say my temps are about 80F consistently at the moment so surely that would be ideal?

anyone using the yeast method just now?

why is co2 more usefull in temps of 80-90F - is it better to use co2 at 80-90F than say not using it at all and keeping your plants at the recomended 75F?

I can find lots of info on co2 but cant find why it works ideally at 80-90F - also it seems that in the final 2 weeks before harvest you should stop using it as it can affect your yield!

Im just thinking that because my temps are around 80F just now and i cant afford a better vent fan at the moment the homemade co2 would be ideal?

Here is how it works. Co2. At temps above 85 the plant starts to seriously suffer so at this time you add co2. The plant then thrives and takes off like never before as long as it can get that c02 it needs which it starts to look for at 85+. It does not really look for it a lower temps. Lots of growers can shut off their air and just pump co2 which is way cheaper to. CO2 makes it possible to grow at higher temps also it drstically increases yeilds. CO2 is chepaer than air too. Kinda cool. You want to have a line abouve your plants so that it drops down and make sure you keep your exhaust off but you can leave fans on. That is why cool tubes and stuff are also so pop. IT is a few hundred doolars for a tank and stuff but it doubles your yield. For larger grows they burn propane that is water cooled. Those tabs for 50 bucks at bg hydro I am thinking fo getting for my 4x4x6 tent grow. See if they work, sya thay last a month. 50 bucks a month is fair for a pound lol.

Ive just added two 2L plastic bottles with the yeast and sugar mix all shaken up and holes cut in the top - the holes come out about the base of the plant - its my 1st hps grow (250w and two plants) and i got my light closer to the plant today too by adding some glass candle holders to the top of the light to weigh it down a bit. So all in very exciting, i feel as tho i have a good setup now with the light at the correct height, ventilation decent - and now co2.
