co2 verses without?

...Ramos, or the "Urban Grower" is a guy on youtube, he works for Advanced Nutrients...he claims 2+ pounds per light utilizing co2 (given all else is optimal) ...WTF??? FOREAL??? ...is this bullshit?

...I understand that the earths atmosphere consist of approx 300-350 ppm of co2, and mj can utilize 1500 ppm...

... I'm really on the edge of getting the whole co2 set up goin. Before so, I was wondering if anyone can give me some results (from their own experience) using co2 verses without "yield-wise".

...are their any problems I may need to watch out for that maybe unexpected?

...FYI...we have a killer vent system now, lots of new air constantly being exchanged...

Should I make the switch???

It's true.. I've heard rumors of people get 3lbs a light these days. 2 is almost expected. I've heard of people with 6's getting 2 off of them.

Co2 works.. plain and simple. It's really hard to use too much.. One thing to keep in mind is that you're going to need a lot of light and a lot of food. Co2 makes the plants grow faster but it needs enough light and food to keep it going.

In your system now you are not Co2 deficient. If you add more then you'd be enriching it. With enrichment you'd get more growth as long as other needs of the plant are met.

Make the switch??

It's up to you. It's not cheap to set up and it can be a bit of a pain in the ass, as you might have to redo your layout or some of your equipment. Depending on how high-tech you wanted to get you can get started for as little as a few 100 bucks up to a few k.

Actually, I have to disagree with this being cost prohibitive. Making CO2 is quite cheap, and can be done in a controlled manner. There's another thread somewhere that describes the basics, but here is the gist of it.

Using three simple ingredients, you can induce a chemical reaction which produces CO2. Water, yeast, and sugar. When yeast (a fungus) metabolizes sugar, it releases CO2 as a byproduct. We can harness this by using more simple elements. Using a few 2- or 3-liter bottles to house the ingredient mixture, connect plastic tubing and valves to control the direction of flow. Basically, the tube would be used to transport the CO2 from the bottle to above the canopy of your plants. Given that it is only the leaves that utilize this, it would be pointless to vent the CO2 below the canopy. Once your CO2 stops being produced, add more sugar to the mix, and the reaction will start once more. Eventually, you will have to replace the mixture in the bottles.

The above is probably the simplest setup you can get. If you want to get more creative, connecting a pressure gauge and pressure regulator before the outlet will gain you some added control over the flow rate. Lastly, if you want to spend a good deal of money, you can add a CO2 level monitor, to tell you exactly the concentration of the gas in the grow area. For those of you who may wonder if there is enough pressure to actually provide the right level of CO2 to the plants, rest assured, even with two 2-liter bottles, pressure can reach up near 70 psi. Keep in mind that this setup is only as elaborate as you make it. Two bottles produces quite a bit of CO2 -- think what a small bottle farm of around 10 or 15 bottles could produce.

To me, the one main advantage is that you can produce comparable amounts to a fill-able tank, without the cost or indiscretion of having the tank filled at your local gas shop. Ok, ok, and there's also the cool factor of making your own CO2...heck, that's the same reason we grow our own, right?

you'll "never" be able to brew co2 and get the results you'll get from tanked co2. to get optimal results, you'll need to seal the room and add all the bells and whistles...

From Ed Rosethal - you can double your plants size and yield using C02, I notice a big difference in how quickly they grew when using C02

And just get a bottle / regulator, I tried the yeast / sugar method for few days until I broke down and picked up a bottle

You can find them used on criagslist so do some shopping, you will be glad you did
