CO2 with sugar and urine?

I read online that you can produce CO2 by mixing 2 ozs sugar and a few cc's of urine with 2 liters of water. Has anyone tried this? I just filled up a plastic milk bottle with that mix, punched a pin hole in the cap and put it in my grow box... Hope it works. Anyone know how I can check if co2 is being produced without buying Anything?

well... thats the first time i've heard of someone using piss in there grow opp. +1 to you for giving it a try lol =)

yeah it'll work but after two or three days it'll start to smell, why not just use sugar and water and dry yeast packets? put 6 cups sugar into bottle add 3 packets of yeast fill (2 liter bottle) with water, this is good for about 8-10 plants for about 3 weeks and costs pennies or just dry yeast and pineapple juice?

I also use a cheap co2 setup consisting of 4 cups sugar with 6 envelopes of active dry yeast (from local shopping mart) in a [cut top off of] bottle with water. It'll be good for about 3-4 weeks and cost pennies. I'm finding out 1 bottle will supply about 8-10 jugged plants with co2 for about 3 weeks I add either sugar or more yeast occasionally if it looks like it needs it (you will notice a lack of bubbles/foam)

Some people swear by using urine as a "nute".

this was so crazy i had to read it... use the yeast and dont pee on your plants

that sugar yeast (or piss) water shit dont work
you better off rigging a fan to suck air form out side your window to blow into your grow area via dryer ducting then doing that shit its a waste of time and money

haha I just didn't have time to get some yeast from the store... I'll leave the piss co2 mix in for a few days and see how much the plants grow.. they're still only seedlings though... They've been on a windowsill for around a week and I just moved em into a grow box with 2 25W cfls.

Yeah, me too. I have seen visible results using baking powder and water, moving to yeast now they are bigger.

My mate did a grow where he pissed in his plants for nutes, he reckons it was among the strongest weed he's grown (man has 20+ harvests under his belt, so I value his opinion).

in a sealed grow room
that sugar yeast water
any type of brewing/fermintation
mushroom incubating
crap wont make any differants other then making your room or tent box smell like nasty beer - now i'm not saying it doesnt produce co2 , what i'm saying is its not making enuff to make any differant, the production of co2 is so small and slow that it will never build up to the needed ppms. its like putting plants in your bedroom because you need extra oxygen to breath, there not going to raise the oxygen (O2) ppms enuff to see any change
also the best ways are like i said
openning a window
tanked co2
or burning hydrocarbons
those are the only things you can do .
waste time and money on that other shit if you like

For a small grow area, it indeed does make a difference my friend.

Anything beyond a small grow area yes, you do need CO2 to be introduced on the scale you are talking about.

but this is what i'm saying
it's a waste of time even for a small grow

co2 inrichment only works in a sealed grow room
if the area being inriched is not sealed the the slightest wind
would carry the co2 away

i agree with That 5hit it but i also agree with everyone else. i have a super small air tight grow box just enough to fit 4 small plants. in that grow box there are 2 1.5 liter bottles with sugar and yeast. the box is only opened once ever 24 hours or every 2 days ... in there it makes huge difference.

on the other hand in my 6 foot grow closet i tried using bottles with the sugar and yeast mixture. unless its air tight and not opened for a while the C02 build up is just to small, also other problems being that C02 is heavier than air so it sinks.

basically C02 generators (sugar and yeast) will have results on small grow boxes (without ventilation), but will not have any effect on large grow closets or rooms. well not huge results that are worth the time.

then again if your like me you will do it anyway just cause you enjoy fucking around in your grow room ( yes i do even in my large grow closet )

Oh toothless one,Urine does work and so does yeast. Another way is to combine vinegar and baking soda. Basic chemistry !!

Any additional co2 added to the plants environment will help. True that home remedies for producing the co2 ate minute as compared to tanked and regulated, but even the sugar yeast method adds more than what would be there without anything at all. Co2 is heavier than air though, so you need to have it above the canopy to be of any benefit. Also be sure to remove the co2 at night as when the plants are at rest, the intake oxygen. You will also notice that making your own co2, you get the biggest boost of co2 from stirring the contents, so that means entering the grow area often.
