Nutes every time with coco
Sure you can use smaller pots with coco, and that is when you would water(with nutes everytime remember) more frequently. Coco can be treated sort of like that soiless you've been using(just don't ever let it dry out quite as much as you can with peat based)in larger
pots, or treated more like you would rockwool croutons in smaller pots. And everything in between.
Here's a couple examples of how I do it, and I've been growing in coco since it hit the shelves, I love the shit:
16- 1 gallon mesh bottom pots in a 4'x4' under a 1000w. Each pot is fed via basket dripper stake. I work my way up to 3 watering cycles during each 12 hour light cycle. I'm usually at that 3x's by the second week of flower. I absolutely kill it this way. It's my favorite way to rock the coco, but it's too many plants when you have lots of lights
My goto setup nowadays is 4-6, 7 gallon pots per 4'x4'. These end up getting wattered(with nutes
) every third day.
Both setups are fed 1.7-1.8 EC. The 1 gallon pots are fed right until run-off is achieved. Probably around 5% run-off? The big pots are watered until roughly 15-20% run-off has been achieved.
Getting the extra amount of Ca and Mg right that growing in coco requires, probably will be about the only possible struggle for you at first going from a soiless like sunshine advanced(has coco in it)to coco. If you even have any probs
