Comments/Advice On In Progress Grow Room Build

I had a 14' x 6' room that I divided in 2 last yr. 1 side for Veg & 1 side for Flowering. This winter I started a S.o.G. and quickly ran out of room so Im in the process of building 14.5' x 7' room right next to it & I have a couple questions. This room is strictly for flowering, the old rooms are gonna be for mothers & clones.

1) How many 1000W HPS lights should I use in that size room, or should i go w/ more less wattage HPS lights?

2) I plan on having 2 steps for the plants down the 2 sides & along the back wall, theyll be against the wall 1' off the floor & another one maybe 2' above & behind that. Should I let the bulbs just hang down by themselves or should they be in the hoods?

3) Theres floor supports on the ceiling & where the new wall goes up theres about 10 1' wide x 8" tall gaps. I left them there on purpose for now. Will these gaps help w/ ventilation or will they hurt by letting the heat & humidity out of the room?

Thanx for any help or suggestions.

Five 1,000W lamps would put you right around 50W/sq foot. I hope that the electrical in that room is up to the task. I would use reflectors, better distribution of the light and cooling options if needed. The gaps should be an asset, if you need them use them, if not just close them off. You want really low humidity in that flower room, it may help with air exchange. Got fans? Looks like a really nice set up, good luck with it.

as long as the gaps dont create light leaks, they should help with air flow, as long as you have good ventilation setup they will be passive air intakes

make sure you disinfect that mofo and line it with plastic sheeting inside

make sure your electrical circuit can handle all them 1000Ws

get hoods for them... the reflected light would other wise be wasted, consider getting cooltubes or vented hoods for temp control

setup your plants so that you can get into the room and access them when they are bigger

Thanx for the responses fellas. Heres some more pics of the walls done. I do have some pretty big ajustable fans so that shouldnt be a problem. I didnt mention it before but I have a huge roll of Mylar that I was thinking of using on the walls, thats why I wasnt sure if I could go w/ no hoods. Ive seen videos of dudes w/ greenhouses that have the lights just hanging there. Also I found on CL, that Im goin to pick up on Tuesday are medical curtains like the ones in a E.R. They come w/ the tracks for the ceiling & are the exact height & width of my grow room so I can close off any part of the room that Im not using. Ive run 2 - 1000W HPS & 1 - 1000W MH at the same time and it was fine but Im gonna have an electrician I know come over and make sure 5 would be OK. Im guessing if I use 5 1000W HPS for 12 hours a day my bill is gonna sky rocket right? Do you guys have any idea how much my bill would be for just the lights & would this throw any red flags to National Grid? I need to look into a very quiet generator. Or maybe I could get those ceiling tracks & use less lights, is that a possibility? Pleb, like I said Im gonna run a step of steps 2 high down the sides & across the back wall so there will be a clear isle to walk to the other end of the room.
