Cops illegally killed my crop

While out on mandatoru evacuation the cops had some fun at my house and sprayed some strong smelling chemical on my plants that were visible from my driveway. They didn't see the others so luckily I still have a few. I can't help but feel violated. I was under my plant limits and was doing nothing wrong or excessive. This is bullshit.

How do you know it was cops? They don't tend to be that subtle or prepared.

A cop would just enter your property and cut the plant down. They don't tend to drive around with weed killers.

A neighbor maybe?
The area I'm in is notorious for this type of activity. A vary large region around me was evacuated and i know all my neighbors who know where my house is left at the same time I did. Its pretty secluded. I know this because we were all outside on the main road when the cops showed up and told us to leave immediately. Also, the cops left a marker on my house showing that we had evacuated. So I know they were in my driveway.

We were out for about a week giving them plenty of time to go around and do this. I don't think I was the only victim of this. I'm not going to say the county I'm in but they love abatements and hate that this is legal.

Sucks I'd just replant and hope they don't come again

Sucks either way but I'd be putting up security cams on solar and batteries. If you could prove it, there isn't a court that would go easy on them.

If you're in the US, it's not actually illegal for them to kill or take your plants. Regardless of the legal status in your state, it is still federally illegal , and some people like to be dicks about it.

Replant is definitely not an option. I've only got about 3 weeks of flower left before it's harvest time. I've got 5 that are healthy. They are just half the size of the ones that were killed. Should still get about 1-2#'s each. The ones that were killed were easy 5 pounders. The local cops are supposed to stay out of pot cultivation. It's a civil issue here, and I was well under legal restrictions. It just sucks that they took advantage of me while I was evacuated. I played by the rules and they didnt.

I'm not at all convinced a california court hearing a civil suit would see it that way.

Yep, I live in Maine. I totally get it man. It sucks but there's literally no protections for us til it's federally legal. Not even for folks with their medical card =(

That wouldn't make it to the courtroom in Maine lol. Cops seize shit from medical patients all the time here, and now that is "legal" for recreational use, it's only gettingworse. Border patrol setting up checkpoints , supposedly for immigration stuff, but searching people withaine plates so are clearly residents just to take their weed. There are no protections for citizens who grow or use it. If it's different out in Cali then yall are blessed, seriously.

I live in mass. ;) You can't legally grow outside here, though it is just a civil fine and not criminal. Any outside grow has to be hidden from roads or other residences, and they have to be in a locked area. It wouldn't be a similar case since it is largely impossible to grow and meet those requirements.

But you can bring a civil suit against a state, county, or local leo if they destroy property outside of state law. Now if it's ice or feds, not so much. But you can sue cops if they damage property with no legal basis, and arbitrarily spraying poison on a legal crop is certainly outside of normal duties.

The problem is proving it.
