Some of you might have seen the old thread, which has basically been wiped since the Data wipe and reset, So i am starting this thread in its place.
Recap:
The MAIN Reason I Have not been able to post progress of the grow is how busy i have been... there is ALOT of work going into this years grow. we are doing EVERYTHING right this time... location, hours of exposure, strains, soil, fertilizers, Beds / Holes, it is Virtualy IMPOSSIBLE to stumble onto our crop AND its WELL out of the way for major flight paths...
Strain Selection:
Northern lights #5 x Skunk #1 - PeakseedsBC
Northern lights #5 x Texada timewarp - PeakseedsBC
Skunk #1 x Texada Timewarp - PeakseedsBC
Blueberry x Texada Timewarp - PeakseedsBC
Chocolate Chunk - T.H.Seeds
Vanilla Kush - GHS (I know i Know, GHS is BAD... but they were given to me FREE)
Coffee Kush - Topdawg (Pre 98 bubba x White hashplant)
"Collins" Kush - "Collin" was a VERY Close friend of mine who was one if the first medical growers i ever met. he Smoked weed because he had leukemia.... which eventualy ended up taking his life 3 years ago. Collins kush is THE best pain releaving strain i have ever smoked in my entire life. its almost an Opiate quality pain killer..... The Genetic's are unknown, but what i do know is it has a VERY heavy Afghan heritage.
Texada timewarp is rated #1 outdoor strain in ALOT of peoples books.... it has been grown for 30+ Years here in BC and has some very good, proven genetics.
Northern Lights #5 is largely considered the easiest strain to grow, and the best for northern climates. it has been known, and grown for 35+ Years.
Skunk #1 is a Pure indica hashplant moisture that has had Proven Genetics for over the last 30+ Years.
Chocolate chunk is a PURE indica strain, bred from a Landrace Afghan and Hindu Kush (S.A.G.E) Parent's, its GREAT as a northern strain that was first developed in 1993 and has been growing strong for 19 years.
The Coffee Kush, Vanilla Kush and Collins kush MIGHT grow outside in this climate, but it is not a guarantee that they will flower... These strains were given to me free of charge, so i will be making remote beds from local soils (VERY high quality) and doing this WHOLE section of the grow FREE. there will be $0 invested in this portion of the grow.
Fertilizers:
CIL Bone Meal 4-10-0
CIL Blood meal 12-0-0
GAIA Green Greensand 0-0-3
GAIA Green Kelp meal 1-0-2
Wood Ash 0-5-15 (self tested..)
Gypsum
Alaska Fish Morbloom 0-10-10
Rubicon Organic Kelp 2-2-7
Black strap Molasses
We are Packing in soil, as well as using the local soils after they have been amended.... Packing in soil for 100 plants, on your back... thats just not reasonable....
The local soil is composed of a 6" Layer of VERY dark, VERY Healthy soil (Flood plain's often have the best soils), under that is 4-5 feet of Sandy Clay loam. the top layer of soil will be used in the grow, and the Sand underneath it will be HEAVILY amended to ensure it never forms into clay.
To amend the local Sandy loam we will use Dolomite lime, Gypsum, and organic materials (In this case, greensand and Kelp meal). The dolomite lime and Gypsum go deep into the sand and ensures that the small particles will not bond into particles on clay. Sand = Good airation, Clay = Smothered roots, and later rot....
This is all i currently have time for. it may take a day or two, but I will be back later with more information, more pictures, more everything
Recap:
Well, after a major disaster last year and many lessons learned about trust and responsibility, me and my partner in plants are back for another outdoor grow.... Last year was a disaster mainly because of the seeds supplied by my partner, this year that wont be happening....
we are going to be growing in a remote forest. 15~ Miles from the nearest small town. the Exact location has yet to be determined, but we have 3 or 4 spots we are currently scouting, all of which has direct water access and are on a South facing slope, 2 Things which are Essential where we are growing.
We are located in BC Canada at Lat: 54 N at an elevation of around 700 M (2000 Ft) Above Sea level. Winters come hard and fast around the end of September to Mid October, and we NEED to grow strains which flower VERY fast outdoors, and they have to flower under 14/12 to truly make it to finished. Its a harsh environment for Marijuana, but if you know what your doing you can produce some VERY Dank Winter Buds.
ANY suggestions you guys might have will be good to hear
I just gota post to throw this out there. the people at peakseeds are AMAZING. i would highly recomend them to anyone in Canada or the states.
i have been talking with them all day Emailing back and forth. i have nailed my strain selection down to Texada x Northern Lights and Texada x Skunk. all 3 of the strains involved have allways treated me right. i grew Northern Lights for my first outdoor grow and it was decent, but that was 4 Years ago and i have learned ALOT about soil, nutrients and general plant growth so this should be a good one.
Talking with this guy is great, you can tell he knows his stuff and he doesn't mess around. they are even throwing in some freebies just because i showed so much interest in the strains
where i live 15 miles is a 30 min drive through the woods. i will be able to easily get there every 2-3 days. i can even pack in water if i have to.... the back of my SuV is blacked out and people here mind their own business...
last year it was 2 miles down the line and it was way to close... it was almost spotted multiple times that we know of.. so this year we are putting it on the north side of a secluded lake.
