Could a Genetically created strain become naturally ocurring?

What i mean by this is if i left a pair of female and male plants that have been genetically modified for potency by say Reserva Privada out in a forest could they live, reproduce, and become a naturally ocurring strain? or would they just die off immediately..? theoretically speaking. i'm not actually going to waste my money and try this.
