Even if that meant using say 800 watts of LED, could you eventually get up to the same levels of intensity, canopy penetration etc on less wattage? If so, how much less wattage could you get away with?
Imagine you had a cooled 1000w HPS lighting up a 3'x3' area well cooled 18" from the canopy. What would it take from LEDs to match this and how many watts would you have to use?
Could 350w of LED ever hope to do this? I dont think so, but I dont know. I imagine more like 600-700W but I am curious. Also while I'm asking this, if it were theoretically possible to wire 1000w of T5s could that achieve the same results as a 1000w HPS? What about 1000w of CFL vs 1000w HID?
