Count Weeks From Germination or From When?

I have seedlings that are 24 days from germination. I've been looking through four or five books (I practically have 'em all), and I can't find the answer to this:

When we're counting the weeks of vegetative growth, do we start from germination?

But it says on page 21 of Grow Great Marijuana, the plant enters vegetative phase "when branches alternate."

TIA!

Well, branches don't alternate, until the plant is sexually mature - and that is usually around the time most of us begin flowering! As for the count - it's kind of a preference. I count from the day I germinate the seed, and some count from when the seedling breaks the surface of the soil. Doesn't really matter, your choice.

Usually I document the day I planted the seed, but I count it's life once I see the seed covered leaves break the surface of my soil. At most its a difference of approx 1week. So not too bad.

It doesnt really matter. it shouldn't take long for the seed to sprout, so a matter of a few days during the veg stage is just preference.

I count my plants as seedlings for about 3 weeks starting when the roots first pop out (paper towel method). Around this time they are sprouting their fourth set of true leaves. This is when i start to FIM and LST.
