I am planning on get a Hanna Ph meter for the first time never have used a meter before so I got a couple questions

1. The calibration solution when you cal. it do you pour the solution into a cup set it then get rid of it or can you just dip the meter into the bottle and be good to go?

2. How often do you normaly cal. your meter

Sorry if these have been ask before but I search and cant find these answers

Never stick your meter in the bottle. Pour just enough cal solution to cover the electrodes into a plastic cup. I use shot glass size plastic containers to conserve cal solution. Toss the solution after you use it, never put it back into the bottle. Cal once a month unless your meter dries out. It should be stored with electrode storage solution in the cap to keep it wet.

BTW, I use a Hanna Combo and love it. Just be careful with it. I busted my PH filament by bumping it and they aren't cheap.

Yup, what guitar said....

Buy it here: eseasongear.com. Cheapest I've found online. They will send instructions of how to care for the meter. No worries, bro.

FYI, think about spending $50. There is a big difference btw the 20-30$ meters and the $50 meters. I have a Milwaukee Martini T55 (i think). It's so much better than the previous hanna that I had bought for $29. I wished I had upgraded faster. On the other hand, if your not going to use it in the long term and just growing in soil.... Go w/ the cheaper. Good luck, dak :leaf:

Yeah thats where I bought it they got some good price's. and I went http://www.eseasongear.com/hahi98phphte.html
with this one. It is one of the cheaper ones but its sounds like it will work well.
I do plan on using it long term I been using the GH liquid ph kit for awhile now and just got fed up with it. So hopefully it will work good and last awhile

I debated over this one... Good price, appears to be decent, etc. I'm sure it will work just fine. I haven't heard anything negative about this specific meter, so that is saying something.

FYI, if you decide to get an EC meter, go w/ the HM. It is a sweet meter. Reads quickly, easy maint (as most EC meters are), replaceable probe, auto calibration, multiple functions including ppm(if you like that), Temperature, simple/easy to use. When your growing in soil, it just nice have. If you ever go hydro, essential. Thanks for the rep, bro.

Let us know if you have any other Q's, as it appears you are in good company at the moment. Cheers, dak :joint:
