Court: Tracking devices OK in Oregon marijuana case
A federal appeals court has ruled that mobile tracking devices can be attached to suspect vehicles as part of a marijuana investigation in Oregon.

PORTLAND — A federal appeals court has ruled that mobile tracking devices can be attached to suspect vehicles as part of a marijuana investigation in Oregon.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court in the case of Juan Pineda-Moreno, who argued his constitutional rights were violated when U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents attached devices to his sport-utility vehicle.

The DEA agents used several of the devices to track the SUV after they learned Pineda-Moreno and his associates had purchased large amounts of fertilizer, groceries, irrigation equipment and deer repellent at several stores in the Medford area in 2007.

The court noted the agents attached the devices while the vehicle was parked in a driveway and in public areas, including a street and parking lot.

The court ruled Pineda-Moreno had no reasonable expectation of privacy at any of those sites.

Why on earth would anyone choose to live in the states? Seriously!!!!! Big Brother is friggin ridiculous over there.... And they aren't the only ones, The UK has more Closed Circuit TV cameras than any other country in the world....

That's why Australia is the best country in the world... Geographically we are situated so far from the rest of the planet that we really don't give a fuck what's happening in Europe or the US....

You can have marijuana here in most states and its an on the spot fine if caught... Why America sends pot smokers to prison is beyond me....

You have the Duponts and the chemical companies and the oil companies keeping it a Category 1 drug in the US, while Cocaine is Category 2.... Backward ass nation.... Ruled by an elite few....

The most fucked up thing is this, "The DEA agents used several of the devices to track the SUV after they learned Pineda-Moreno and his associates had purchased large amounts of fertilizer, groceries, irrigation equipment and deer repellent at several stores in the Medford area in 2007." They put these tracking devices on him just for buying legal supplies.

FFS...That is what I buy every season for my vegetable garden. I pick up garden fertilizer, sprinklers (cause the plastic ones always break), maybe a garden hose or two, and I get my groceries since I am out.
I would love them to spend money to follow me to my vegetable garden. Hell, I may try and sell them some sweat corn, watermelon, and cucumbers while they are here.
