Covid made me do it - 1st grow

SO... Hi I'm Jake... just wanted to join your community and share my grow experience.
Never thought I'd ever get this far.. but i'm here now, and I'm gonna see it through.

I'll be sharing some pics of a grow that started from a seed I picked out of the bud I was going to smoke.. it was just the one seed... which shocked me because the bud was pretty good... so I said screw it and germinated the seed in a paper towel til it gave me a good 2cm of tap root and planted it in a coffee container... Holy sh*t.. it sprouted

SO Now I had to scramble and try to get as much light as I can on it... (That's all I knew) I used a regular lamp and pulled reflective foil over the light to mirror it down on the seedling.

So I built a little grow box out of a plastic bin, used a desk lamp and a 14$ generic grow bulb from home depot... Sooner than later she was getting too close to the top of the container... So I upgraded to a 2x2x4 tent. Also got a cheap Philzon 600 LED light... a month later I needed a taller tent.. Now she sits in a 2x4x6.5 and it seems to be just what I need... or can use with my small space designated for the tent.

Side note: I hadn't PH'd a drop of the water I gave her up to this point. Used purified water with fox farm trio.. TDS and PH meters came after that.. All I know is she's been doing pretty damn good.. a few leaves burnt on the tips a curled leaf here and there and I never treated her for it or tried to rack my brain on how to properly diagnose and remedy any issues. This just isn't my field lol

I did top her once on the main stem then again on each of the lower branches. Look at those new tops coming up

here's a skip to now.. week 3 of flower
IMG_4312.JPG

Ok so here's some details..
2x4x6.5 tent diamond mylar.. like in the MH tents.
she's in a 3g fabric pot
coco loco for medium
Fox farm Trio used during veg
Advanced nutrients being used for bloom @ 1/3 dose to tame the beast. (Heard it wasn't a good idea to mix brands.. but never been one for following ALL the rules.. come on.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and speaking of I'm using 1/2 dose of beasty bloomz as well. Overdrive and flawless finish will be taking her on her last meals in a few weeks.
Lighting: 2 Philzon 600 LED's - only pushing a whopping 216 watts. ‍♂️
I have 2 stationary fans strapped to the rafters as well as a 28 inch tower fan circulating the air.
Passive intake with a 4 inch exhaust blowing THRU a carbon filter outside the tent. (I know it's supposed to pull thru... but I didn't know better)

I PH her water to 6.8 when I feed just water.... uhhh I smoked like 10 mins ago so I may have forgotten a couple small things.. but let me know what you think.

Thanks. ‍

Don't use overdrive to early, plan to run 65-70 days of flowering. I use coco loco with advanced nutrients sensi coco. I usually use half coco loco half coco perilite mix. Buti have us d the AN sensi coco with just coco loco and did well that way too.

Looks really nice for your first plant, next time I would do more plants and veg for less time.

I always feed nutes to mine, that's why I like the mix of coco and coco loco. But I still feed every day even in coco loco just a little less than with my mixture. I run coco loco just like I would coco meaning I shoot for 5.8-6.1 pH. The AN sensi coco makes it so I don't have to adjust pH at all it comes out in the correct range every time.

Won't be stepping in with overdrive yet.. next grow I may go 100% organic just to see what I like more. I got seeds from ILGM and AMS a mix of photo/auto's. Next time I will definitely veg less and put 2-3 plants in there. This plant I kept in Veg for 6 1/2 weeks.. between week 3 & 4 the growth stunted from transplanting so I added on time to actually grow bigger.

I feed nutes every watering unless I see some burning on the leaves.. if I see it I use just water. to run some excess out.

I will try to update the grow weekly.

Update on what her nipples are lookin like :hump: :pbongsmilie

Still looking for feedback on how I have gotten to this point. Whether or not I’m really drifting into dangerous waters mixing two different brands of liquid nutrients... any advice learned from experience is what I’m looking for. Thanks in advance.

I don't see any issue with using a different veg nutes than flower. The only thing I can see is your bloom booster could be changing your pH. Most advanced nutrients lines are pH perfect. I use AN big bud coco version for bloom booster, and tried overdrive but didn't care for it, it seemed to cause more foxtailing for me in coco. I just continue using the big bud coco version instead of overdrive.

I get great quality and good weight from doing it this way.

What is your pH before you add the bloom booster and what is it after you add it? If it's not throwing you off too much your probably fine. I like the coco version because it has less pottasium since coco naturally has this in it. Also it has some chelated iron which according to AN helps in coco.

I like treat coco loco similar to coco because after a few weeks of growing the majority of that added stuff is washed out in my opinion. The whole reason I use it as half my mix is because it aids in transplanting and I no longer loose a week of veg waiting on transplanted plants to get healthy. With this mix my plants stay healthy.

If you are asking on soil PH I haven't picked up the habit of checking before and after.. but in the nutrient solution I usually just add what I'm feeding to the water and mix..then I adjust PH if need be. Last feeding I had to up my water's PH about .6to get to 6.8.

I have a wide selection to feed with.. well seeing how I'm new to it.. it's over the top for me.. but go hard or go home right?

Turn the plastic bin into a clone box, turn the 2x2 into a mom’s veg tent, turn the 2x4 into a SOG. You’ve basically got everything, if you still want to go cheap maybe get that weird shaped mars hydro that seems made for a 2x4

I have a rectangle plastic bin lined with foil on the inner walls and a humidity dome w/tray and raised hood for cloning. That's actually not a bad idea. Thanks. I have swapped out the lights in the 2x2 since it was 2 separate lights... moved one of the Philzon 600's to the 2x2 and the 2 cheap boards to the 2x4. It's way brighter in there now.

Any links for the lead boards?? To buy
They turned out not to be worth it. I wouldn't recommend them. They pulled 30W each.

Link to the rest of this grow is in my signature. Along with those auto clones you seen me mention. Updating more now.
