I have been wanting to do a high CO2 grow but didnt have the tent, the right lighting (I use mostly T5 and the 4 pin cfl). My 600w ballast and bulbs have been in my storage unit long enough to gather dust. But now that LED is at a good price point and it produces a lot less heat than the 4 pin cfl I have bought a few of the Galaxyhydro units. The pink light is just an end to the mean...smoking weed and not having to worry about how to get it. I no longer enjoyed just watching this beautiful plant grow bathed in pink. Then I saw the thread on a Cree CXB build...this is perfect for a tent grow with as much CO2 as the plants could take.
I want to spend the money where the light is ...as CHEAP as posssible. I made the mistake of trying to be cheap on the light source itself and bought a 100w full spectrum (pink) for $10 on Ebay and all I had to show for it was a light that would grow a small plant that would put out more heat than a large CFL bulb. Since there is a good exchange rate between the dollar and Australian dollar ...about .75 per dollar..it makes smaller easy to ship items a good buy. Below is the result of 6 Cree CXB 3590 with 2 at 3500k and 4 at 3000k..along with some 6 inch duct and some heat sinks that came off of an old server. Add in a noisy 4 inch blower and I have 6 COBS that stay under 80F. I am just waiting for Cutter to return an email before I buy more because the shipper decided it was OK to just leave the $400+ box that was my first order on my front porch. I would feel a lot better with a signature required..which from the paper work that came from DHL it looked like they were suppose to get my signature.
Here is some pictures of the build,... slap together project which went fairly smooth except trying to get that lousy COB holder/ reflecter.....IDEAL YOU SUCK. the last picture is all of the light that leakes out of the Ideal COB holder and the plastic ring that holds the reflector.
