Most likely the buds were still a little too moist when you put them into the tub. When they hang dry, the buds will start to feel crispy on the outside. When you out them into a closed tub, the moisture within the buds redistributes and they will feel “soft“ the next day. When the moisture content is perfect, this wont happen anymore. Do you have any sort of meter/gauge for humidity? If so, this could help to confirm. There are little devices that will fit inside a jar or tub (made for cigar humidors) that work well for this. Be wary of mold.

I’m with he missinthe90s. Sounds like they weren’t quite ready for jar curing. If the buds feel moist, they need to come back out of the jar, or at least sit in an open jar for a while. Maybe try to brown bag them for a day or so and then back into the jars. Pay close attention. But don’t let them sit too moist in a sealed container. Sounds like you might benefit from some Boveda humidity control packs and cheap humidity reading devices. I got a box of 10 or 12 from Amazon a while back. Not totally accurate, but helpful. Brown bag and/or leave the lids off for at least a few hours if not a whole day.
