Curing: plastic or fiber drum?

I'd like to avoid so many 1/2-gallon jars. Thinking of upgrading to a ~14-gallon drum for curing. Fiber drums are cheaper and lighter than plastic drums; and apparently, fiber drums are waterproof. But I don't dry in paper bags because I believe it negatively affects smell/flavor/quality. So I'm asking you, are fiber drums worth buying? I wouldn't want to replace them for years. So if fiber's subject to dings and tears, I'll just spend the extra money on plastic drums.

I'm thinking, I'd use a drum for the strains I'm focusing on (growing/yielding the most) (maybe 3-5 drums). I'd still use 1/2-gallon jars for strains I'm trying out or phasing out.

Thoughts, experiences?

If by drum , you mean lidded bucket
It works fine for bulk but I still line with plastic

Makes sense, might still keep the tops/best nugs in amber glass jars. Thanks. The middle-sized and smaller can go in the seal-able cylinder. I was just using the advertised term drum. See first 2 images below.

When you say lidded bucket, I envision what's shown in the 3rd image below.

Well the five gallon buckets on the bottom row work great
Especially buried in the winter months
For security purposes of course
Or so I’ve heard

Yeah, then I can dedicate glass jars to particular strains ... no more pointless relabeling. get all the stupid shit out of the way ... that's the plan!

$20 on Amazon. And the seat's made for sitting ... I can see that coming in handy. Six gallons, ordered 6 (for now).

Hard plastic, not necessarily UN rated ... but since I'll be lining it with 2 or 3 layers of thick, translucent plastic (it's what I already have on deck), I'm not sure it matters.

I've always wanted food grade Buckets with gamma seal lids. There's also a video of a guy who makes an automatic burping system with some vinyl tubing a timer and a pump
