Dry the bud in a paper bag or open air until its dry to the touch. This will typically take several days to a week.
Now its "dry".
Next step is "cure", which is a slow dry that gives time for the plant pigments and sugars to break down to create a smooth smoke and nice smell.
Put your buds in an airtight container, most people like glass jars, but even an ordinary tupperware will work, and let them continue to slow dry for another few weeks.
This is the "cure".
As they slow dry (ie cure) water that was trapped inside the buds will work its way out and your buds that felt dry before will now feel soft and a bit moist.
YOU MUST open your jars every few hours at this point and ventilate them to let out extra moisture, or the buds will go moldy and rot.
Did I mention that if you leave your uncured buds in a sealed jar for long periods of time they will ROT? OK, just wanted to make that clear.
Open up the jar every few hours for the first few days and leave it open for a few minutes for the moisture inside to come out. You can flip the buds around a bit and/or fan them to help here. Then repeat every 12 hours for the next few. Then once per day, then once every few days.
After a few weeks of this, you'll have perfect smelling, perfect burning, cured buds.
