Curious about 400 watt HPS

If I use a spare garage and I throw a 400 watt HPS in there for 2 plants,...will I still need an inline duct face or will oscillating fans be okay, being I have plenty of room..? Will there still be heat issues? Currently 3 weeks into veg under a T8 shop light and some CFLs. Any and all advice is helpful and appreciated. :eyesmoke:

depending on the outside temp and weather, this always regulates heat inside, although you usually find that a garage is nice and cool due to the brick walls and concrete floor that is.... if it is like that. mine is.
the light will raise the temps a few degrees that is all, remember it is 400w, if you use a 400w heater it would struggle to heat a garage in winter so i presume you will be ok, although if it is freezing outside you may find your garage too cold for the plants.
better putting 4 plants under the light too.

open air no walls and what not just 2 plants a 400w hps and a box fan pointing down on it all you should be alright, kinda how i started after i fucked around with some other crazy setups at first. just keep the plants small and bushy the best penetration for a 400w is about 3ft so all the main growth needs to be withing 3 f, in other words your light will hang really low, maybe at eye level at the end of the grow.

I use a 400 watt digital ballast for veg and flower in my 12 x 12 room and it does kick up a little heat even with a fan blowing so yes there are heat issues.Gotta suck out that hot air,and i blow cool air at night in if its cool out.even with my central air on it still will stay about 80 deg.Good luck.

Appreciate the input buds,..I am hesitating still though. I am moving at the end of Sept, got 2 plants 3 weeks old and I would like to get a good dense yield but with limited funds and actually having a HPS with no light is tempting but im not trying to burn the garage down at the same time. As far as venting I get pushing the hot air out but would having 3 windows in there not do the trick. Sorry for nagging, I'll post pics of my plant and the lamp after my wake n bake+coffee.

so I threw them under the 400watt HPS, i popped the bottom and topped the top, haha. anyways...for some reason my plant(being bagseeds) is week 4 of veg and only 2 inches tall. got the 5th node coming in and I threw 3 100watt EQ CFL 6500k just to add another spectrum. I am starting to think they will be small plants but wondering if 1)how much longer should I veg and 2) is there anything I can do to speed up the growth, I use foxfarm big grow twice a week and using foxfarm organic soil. any ideas???

The garage area is too large, large heat loss, in order to achieve the ideal temperature estimation is difficult, either in the garage wall affixed reflective foil, this will be much better.
