holy crap that's a lot of CFLs, just be careful disposing of those, the mercury in those is SUPER bad for water supplys.
How many of them are you running? May wanna get a 48" T5, they put out much more light
Hey whats up friend:peace: I have only 7 small 33w cfls 6400k 2090 lumens a piece. 4 in one reflector and 3 in the other. 134w on my 4week old plant and 99w on my 2week old plant. The others in the green and white boxes are 2700k bulbs i have them reserved. All together 14,630 lumens. Temp at 79 81 flux. That should be cool for only two plants Im feeling. What do you think though?:peace:

well, to be honest with you, you may be disappointed in your end product using those lights, the issue with those bulbs is they don't penetrate much, and the lumen output suffers greatly when the plants are not next to the light, if you have the means I highly recommend either a 48" t5 setup with four bulbs, or a switchable 400/600/1000 watt electric ballast that can do MH as well as HPS bulbs, reason being is I PROMISE you'll want to upgrade in the future, and this way you can not only go from MH to HPS bulbs when switching to flower, but also if you get a larger room you may upgrade to 600 or 1000 watts also.
Its expensive, I got that, but to get the results you probably desire, i'd go with a HID system. As always, this is my opinion.

Also you probably didnt see the mh/hps bulbs with reflector. I fluxuated with somany options and ended up making a real noob mistake getting a 400w mh and a 600w hps and didnt kniw i needed the digital ballast and i ended up wanting the cfls. So its like im stuck with the partial mh/hps hook up. But ill order me a mh/hps 400w hook up when its time to flower. So that leaves me stuck, with the 600w hps bulb:wall:. I hold on to it those cost a little fold change.

seems simple enough, get a perpetual setup with a 400w MH for vege and a 600w HPS for flower, it's what i'm using, only I use two 600s right now, ideally I use two 600hps and one 600 MH, but my t5 broke in my vege room, so I had to steal the MH from my flower room for my moms and clones

Oh No doubt. Thats my strategy plan. The cfls are just for vegging a little longer. And i do have a t5 4ft 8" (8) bulb lizzy lamper coming....im grinning as im typing...lol But yea Im hip Im hip...:hump: And also im doing this according to financial stabilty at this time and small space.

So my googly woogly question would be "i forgot to do reaserch on is this", do you use two ballast? Because i was reading that it wouldbe wise to use the same wattage compatibility and i was like well yea id do that for consitancy, just cause. But somewhere in there i must have confused the different knowledges which caused me to by different bulbs believing that i could use both just for the reflector till i went to plug it in:wall:Lol.

yeah I gotcha there, I do like CFLs just not as a sole light, you'll be good if you switch to the HIDs, cfls can be helpful for lower light areas and the under the canopy, but to be honest, I HATE trimming those little bastards... SO I don't encourage the growth of the under-canopy. Not lollipopping but not adding wattage to that area.

not sure what you are asking. I do use two bulbs, two 600w hps. I don't think using the same wattage for the vege and the flowering has any reason behind it, the plants don't care what the wattage is, more is better, typically. I like to use two ballasts, because I grow in a larger room, but if you have a small area, then one ballast is fine. For me, optimally I like a 2/1 ratio of hps to MH. I had the best results when I used two 600 HPS in conjunction with one 600w MH

My apologies for the delay. You mentioned 400w mh for veg and pace with 600w hps for flowering.... Will i have to get (2) ballasts? And Thats what i forgot to look into a little further. You know, 400w ballast and 600w ballast? My original plan was to veg 400w and 600w flower, till i found it was said i wouldnt be able to use them both with the same ballast. Then again one said it could be done...

I believe it's one bulb per ballast. Some ballasts only do one type of light (MH or HPS), and some run both. Some allow you to turn the wattage down (dimmable), but your bulb wattage should match your ballast.

Cheers!
