Custom grow room lighting

Hello all, very excited to be apart of this forum!

1st time grower. Looking to build a 10x12 grow room in my basement for 5 plants. I'm limited to 5, so idea is max yield/plant.

My question pertains to the lighting. Was thinking to roll with 600w samsung led (1000w hps equivance) everyone on here speaks so highly of. One per plant [4x4 area, sog, 5 led's total] with goal of 1+ lb flower per plant. Is this too much light?

35 watts per sqft is a good place to be for flower under LED.

If you intend to grow trees you may wanna take a gander at my journal. You may get some ideas to help maximize yields. I typically pull 4+ per plant.

You should be able to pull a couple pounds off a 4x4 just with the top canopy. If you get into side lighting you can really push the numbers up to 3 - 4.

Question for you: why did you choose not to configure your plants in a Scrog format? Never saw done on the top and sides, but I'd think you'd get more yield?

Trying to get massive yields out of a limited legal number of plants.

Side lighting is the key here. I get more canopy area using the top + sides than I would if I filled the whole room with just top canopy plus I can move around the plants.

Understood. You definitely changed my perspective on lighting.
