Cutting the stem

Hi
I was told if you cut the centre part of the plant out at a certain height the plant would go bushy and get more buds and it wouldn't grow to tall so is this all bull.if not how high do you grow it to before cutting the stem.
Thank's

each time you cut the plant it will shoot out two tops,if you cut on the two tops then they each shooot out two tops,or you can slowly bend the plant over using a string and fish hooks then you get about six tops

you're talking about topping. you can also fim. i never do either, i tie down. topping/fimming works, but i feel it just slows things down. tying down will accomplish pretty much the same thing w/o interrupting growth.

i never did either, i keep the lights as close as possible to the plant... : ) i have my plant naturally growing 2 main colas instead of 1 because of a lightbulb incident, and about 7 secondary colas shootin out of the main stem.

you were told right... and you cut after the plant has at LEAST 4 nodes.... so in essence your chopping off the 5th node...
pic 1 where you should cut...
pic 2-3 the results... notice two main stalks now

space (height wise) isn't an issue unless the plants go over 7 ft for me. i top if i notice the plant naturally produces alot of shoots = more buds or clones... if the plant dosen't produce alot of shoots and dosent turn out to be male, then i leave alone... because i've noticed when i top these particular plants they become more interested in branching... and since they were slow branchers to begin with it seems to slow overall plant deveopment...
