You don't need a pH or TDS meter for growing in soil. A pH test kit with the drop solution is more than ample for what you need to be testing.

That must be a huge bottle of superthrive. You really only need a smaller bottle since it is so powerful and it isn't used during flower.

Fan? Odor control?

Don't you need a pH/EC meter when adding nutrients to your water? it is a pint of superthrive what would you recommend a 2oz bottle? I am still searching on a good reasonable price fan. Should i buy 2 one for exhaust other for intake.

No, you don't need meters for growing in soil. They are absolutely unnecessary unless you like wasting money. If you were growing in hydro, I'd definitely recommend getting both of the meters.

Yeah, a 2oz bottle should be sufficient. I still have at least a half bottle after two grows. A little bit goes a long way, so you don't need much.

Ebay has some good deals on fans. I got a 6" 450cfm one for $120 shipped and it works very well. An intake fan is unnecessary, just use the passive intake holes. You want to create negative pressure within the tent to keep the smell contained.

If i dont need the meters how can i tell the Ph/EC of the water after adding the nutes?

I heard when using the passive intake holes the tent is not lightproof is this true?

edit: i just found this http://cgi.ebay.com/6-Centrifugal-Inline-Exhaust-Fan-460-CFM_W0QQitemZ160416627433QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2559937ae9 is that a decent fan?

Use the feeding chart provided by the manufacturer to decide how much to feed. Start at 1/4 strength and work your way up as the plant grows or tells you it needs more. Check pH with one of those drop test kits. You can get the meter if you want dead-on accuracy but with soil, you can control the pH and ppm only so much.

My intake holes are open on the side against the wall. If this isn't an option and the holes leak a lot of light, you'll have to find a way to keep the light out. Light travels in a straight line, so rig up a light-trap with a 90 degree bend if you have to.

That's the exact fan I'm using. Works well for me so far and its fairly quiet.

okay so i did some talking to a buddy of mine and my whole setup has changed i am going to buy 2 darkroom grow tents not sure on dimensions yet, 3 1000watt hps complete setup(ballast,a/c reflector, hortiflux bulbs), and a co2 tank for 1000 dollars. once i get them ill measure the dimensions of the tents. my main concern is how much does 2 or 3 1000w lights affect the light bill? Also does anyone know a thing or two about running a co2 tank?

My best words of advice to you are this:

Stop listening to your buddies.

You went from doing a nice easy grow to getting three 1000 watts and co2

WTF?

Or better yet, don't listen to me and do whatever you want.

But if you are smart you will go back to your original shit and start off easy.

ok first off just cause im getting this doesnt mean im using it all... im setting up two tents w/ 1 1000w light inside each the other is just going to be a spare. anyways he said he was gonna throw in the co2 tank if i want to use it. all i was asking was if anyone knew how to run so if you can provide me with that information kindly leave my thread and raise your post count somewhere else.
