Day 105 of 12/12 and no amber trichomes

Hi Folks

I'm on day 105 of 12/12 for a sativa dominant strain, and I'm confused as there is still not a single amber trichome to be found. I have LOTS of big fat buds, covered in trichs, but they have not changed yet. The seed pack suggested flowering would be finished between 75 and 95 days.

I had pre-flowers before I switched to 12/12, so I'm really confused. This is my first grow.

Clones from this same plant appear to be maturing at an equally slow rate, but this seems crazy long based on what I have read.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

3'x3'x7' room, 400W MH/HPS, fresh air intake, exhaust fan. Plant had some problems along the way, and has lost all major fan leaves. The only ones left are the small leaves around the buds...which are large. Plant in question was vegged for 52 days.

Also, I just realized I didn't actually ask a question in my first post... I guess I'm wondering if I should just keep waiting and they will eventually turn amber, or if I should cut them now because they have now been in 12/12 longer than the seed pack said was required.

Thanks

Just an idea, but maybe change the light cycle to 8 hours on 12 off? Might help finish them off.

I had a buddy that figured we could put in more nutes than I said we could. The plants lost all of their fanleaves. Overwatering can also cause them to loose their fanleaves. From sprout it takes about 12 weeks to finish flowering if placed directly into flower(1000w/hps). I only veg my moms.

so no amber, by any yellow? some strong sativas have known to turn a translucent yellow instead of amber.

I have other plants in the room with the plant in question - wouldn't reducing the amount of light be detremental to them?

I don't know that I'd even say yellow... I definitely noticed the change from clear to cloudy, but not into yellow territory yet. All trichomes are currently a milky white colour with the odd "head" a rusty brown (but this is very sporadic).

Sativa dominant strains.. can take anywhere from 9 all the way up to 14 weeks to fully ripen and mature.

be patient..

then again.. some strains believe it or not.. don't and won't ever produce amber colored trichs. Once the trichs have gone cloudy.. its time to harvest.

hopefully you didn't wait too long.

good luck.

peace.

I would rather pick a sativa before the trichs turn amber, sativas are a head trip, never heard of a couch lock sativa.

My point exactly.

Sativa strains aren't grown or known for having the narcotic or "sluggish" type of high/stone to them. They're grown and known for their "energetic" and "uplifting" type of high/stone. This is also why Sativa dom. strains won't hardly get any amber trichs.. if any at all.

anyhow, best of luck to ya's.

peace.

amber trichs are weaker forms of cloudy ones.
i never harvest based on amber., mabey 3%, but at most that.cloudy trichs
is the real thc in you bud. aubern/amber trichs is a form of cannaboids.
witch gives you the baked high.
as for cloudy, your feeling the real high the bud gives off.
more cloudly less amber, higher tch. more amber less thc more cannaboids.
its really up to you.
but id chop now, thats me though

This is very true. Many big growers switch back to a more vegetative light for the last two weeks. Supposed to add mass too. I dont use it because im happy with my yields.

some sativas can take up to 16 weeks of flowering! thai skunk is a 16 weeker, KILLER is a 14. sativas r exqusite tho! DONT MICROWAVE BUD! read that earlier in the thread...EW! and switching to MH in late flower doesnt add mass, if anything u will not gain that slight bit of mass u would origanaly get with HPS, MH has UVA and UVB, ALOT more than HPS does and it makes for more frostee buds in the harvest.
