Day 45 of 12/12 and 30% of trics amber wtf?

 Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum and hobby in general. This is my first attempt and I'm growing feminized white-widow from seed.

I vegged for about 6 weeks and have been in flowering(12/12) for 45 days now. The last 30 days I've been supplementing with CO2 at 1500ppm with a controller. Only 3 plants in a 4x4 tent under a 750 watt hps. temps around 80 to 87 day and 75 night. Humididty between 40 and 55.

I purchased a 60x pocket microscope to check the trics yesterday and was shocked to find no clear trics whatsoever and about 30 percent of the trics on the top cola were actually amber. This shocked me as i'm only in day 45 of flower and from what i've read about this strain is it takes at least 8 weeks.

Any suggestions? I'm really confused. I really don't want to harvest too late or early as I spent so much time money and energy on this project.

I wish i could post pics of the trics but my cam can't handle that kind of magnification.

thnx

got any pictures of the actual plant?

"8 weeks" is just a guide, really. I find that usually it takes a little longer than what the seed banks say. It's not unheard of for a plant to mature so quick. I'd like to see pictures of the plant itself, if you can manage it?

And welcome :)

yeah some pics would be nice, i have same pics on my profile of a stain called brainfreeze and it usually is done around 45 to 50 days at the most so it can happen but it is rare. but if you can manage to get some pics answers will probably come in quicker. :joint:

Thnx for the input. I have to w8 until lights on to take a pic though which wont be for a couple of hours. The fan leaves have yellowed horribly on one plant in particular. Its like its eating itself as there are no issues with it. The yellowing has occured over the last 7 days but no real issues b4 that. The leaves on the buds seem ok though and tons of trics. Buds are small but very frost. I will post pics as soon as i can....thnx

Where did you get the White Widow? I'm starting some DP White Widow and I'm just curious.

cool.

the yellowing is natural as the plant is coming to the end of its life. it's a good thing, means it using up all those stored nutes to produce them frosty buds!

Mine r also from dutch passion but I aquired them from a local retailer here in Canada. They r femminized and came highly recomemneded from a freind. I sampled batches of fem ww b4 and it was better than what i remeber smoking in holland about 10 years ago. I'll post pics shortly.

yeah what he said about using up nutes. Also if your hps bulb is deep in the red color spectrum the plant will start slowly yellowing because of the absence of the blue colored spectrum which is for veg. growth. using the co2 may have sped up the process which may be why they are ready early. Wouldn't you think. I mean I don't know what it like where you live but here in CO it is generally dry this time of year, but we have been blessed w/ cooler weather and actual rain anyway the whole global warming crap and the excess co2. Trees and all sorts of plants are growing like crazy. I've heard reports by George Noory on Coast to Coast radio that the forests in eastern Europe are growing like wildfire like wise in the Amazon. I'll shut up now. C-ya:bigjoint:

looking nice, but personally i'd say another couple of weeks or so.

still a lot of white hairs, not that that's a good way of telling maturity. but i'd leave it a lil' longer.

What about the pistils(hairs) shouldn't they darken at some point? Even with a white strain as ww. Would an early finishing plant's pistils darken like a late finshing variety?

make sure when you are checking trichs that you look at a calyx versus an imbedded fan leaf. I've noticed that trichs on leaves amber up much early than the rest of the trichs.

Yes you're right. Besides harvesting late is better than harvesting early ryt? In another 2 weeks I'll be where the seed supplier says \i should be but i'm concerned about the large amount of amber trics on the top buds...maybe I'll harvest the top buds first....i don't know....thnx

Wow. They look really good amigo. Soil too? Gonna taste awfully good. bongsmilie
I'm using promix hp with dutchmaster nutes for flower with added calmax. Veg was totally organic with guano. Gonna try dwc next time. I wanna shave some time of vegging. I'm guessinf co2 and hydro ...my babies will fill out much quicker.

Just in case anyone was wondering I thought I would provide an update. Better late than never.....been busy.

Gastanker you were correct in directing me to check the calyx versus an embedded fan leaf. After checking only the calyx portion of the bud I found the trichs to be 80/20 Cloudy/Clear. No amber trichs whatsoever.

Important bit of information for a newb like me or anyone else who could potentially harvest too early cause their looking in the wrong place. thnx bro.

Peace

Those are lookin' tasty. I am sure you are smoking them by now. Que no? I have a plant has a big ass cola but hardly no trichomes yet. Friend of mine told me to get some Purple Maxx (resin stimulator). It just keeps expanding, becoming ever sexually frustrated. I sprayed 'em before I tucked them in this morning. The last pic are his results at three weeks. He's running 3600w of light.
