Day 63, yellow all over - maybe now?

Hey all,

My plant is fading fast, and is an unknown strain on day 63 since flip. I haven't seen white hairs or much growth in the last couple weeks. Transpiration has slowed, and the faded yellowing is spreading fast with some leaves now drying and curling.

The trichromes however are mostly cloudy, some clear with no amber I can find.

I'm getting worried about the yellowing getting into the buds as it seems to be starting on the sugar leaves and the odd single bladed bud leaf, but am happy to wait if you all think I should.

Sorry , the 30x loupe held up to the phone camera is the best I got. Would you wait? Good to chop?

I wouldn’t defoliate the yellow, there is absolutely no reason to. What sense does that make?

The yellow is a symptom of a problem, not the problem. The plant is using those leaves for nutrients because (I’m guessing) it’s been cut off from fertilizer.

If you cut off the yellowing leaves you are just going to make it start pulling those same nutrients from the other leaves...

Feed it or leave it alone. The leaves aren’t even necrotic or anything, if the plant wants to drop them it’ll drop them. Don’t try and “help”.

When you say feed it or leave it alone, do you mean you think it needs more time, or is within harvest window?

If it's not ready, I had planned to leave it. I was more looking for confirmation of readiness, or a rough idea of how much longer I should try push it.

I didn't cut off fertilizer intentionally, just no final top dress, and no hint at what this strain needed. Other strains in same mix are green and happy, so this one must be a heavier feeder (note for next time).

You will find some of them feed a lot heavier than others for sure (and some nutrients more than others), and some plants put on a fall color show regardless of nutrient situation.

You’re about a week away from harvest based on that trichomes shot, I (personally) would top dress or hit it with a fish fertilizer to stop it if you can, and run it out. You may end up with a yellow sugar leaf or two, but you can just snip them out during trim. The bud will be fine.

However, if you want to chop, you’re in the harvest window. It’s a beautiful plant.

I guess most importantly I would not pull any fan leaves, it’ll just spread faster. That plant is still “Eating”, so it’ll fatten up noticeably if you can give it some nutrients and let it run.

After looking real close again, I do see some crispy fall leaves, no burn at all. Feed it and run it I say...

Thanks! I dont have any organic highly available nutrients, only dry stuff that needs to break down...well except for a really old bottle of a 0-4-0 organic bloom that froze at least once if not twice.

I'm a little hesitant to start doing anything different at this point, but I do have hopeful mother revegging. If I get another shot at this plant, I think higher N in veg and a bit throughout flower might help. I will probably change my top dressing routine to weekly rather than waiting and dumping it all in at once every few weeks.

I guess in that case, if I chop it and don't like the effect, I might get a chance to experiment with the timing. I hope she revegs!, she rooted, but is taking much longer than the others to grow those funky round leaves.
 
She was looking for help .... feed issue. Too bad ... that cut into her final bulking and weight.
You may have to cut her sooner than later. None of those yellowed out leaves are photosynthesizing worth a shit .
Sometimes a plant will give up the ghost WHETHER it is ready or not.

Yep, I figured as much. Lack of experience and no info on plant strain, so when it first started to yellow so late into flower and the others in the same mix looked fine, I assumed she was just an early finisher and decided to let it fade out.

I think I may just watch it closely, let it finish feeding off itself, and take notes for next time if the mother comes through for me. It'll probably come down in a few days.

All in all, I think it's been a good first plant/lesson after a 20 year break. I have 6 others that have been flowering just as long, but don't look hungry or tired yet so I'll keep pushing them along and give this plant what it needs next time.
 
Ack! While this plant had me distracted, another plant in the other corner threw some nanners. I don't have patience to pluck them, so I've harvested that one early. Hopefully I caught it early enough to have little to no pollen, guess I'll see.

Since my urge to chop has been satiated, I'll give this one a few more days.
